DS arrived late Friday night-early Saturday morning, complete with a stomach bug. He thought it had been put behind him, and celebrated with his cousins quite well on Christmas eve. He was poorly on Sunday, and I at first chalked it up to the fun of the night before. Well, not so lucky, if a hangover is lucky. He ended up crashing at my brother in laws for four hours, and eating nothing. He perked up enough to visit a couple hours, and then we had a family movie night (all huddled in a pillow pile on the family room floor since no furniture). Overnight, DD2 spent the night in and out of the bathroom, and has been in bed all day. I don't know if we've ever escaped an entire Christmas week without someone or multiples coming down with something.
Illness aside, it has been a good couple days. No drama on either side, and both DD2 and I managed to cope with the excessively long day with DH's family, who still think the entire Christmas Day should be spent together. Without creating a rift, I'm not sure how to break that tradition. DD1 went grocery shopping with me Friday morning, and I can officially say, I am so far over my December grocery spending plan, we'll just pretend there was no budget goal to begin with. We had planned to go to a movie and out for Chinese food today, but DD2's illness and a closed Monday restaurant (never had a clue until DD1 looked up the showtime and restaurant hours), means we are having a home day, and I will make chicken Parmesan for supper for those that feel like eating. Less costly than Chinese food anyway, and a quieter day. We'll do later in the week perhaps, but DD2 is heading back sometime tomorrow.
She and I went for coffee this morning. I had intended to use a Groupon, since I had $5 bonus that needs to be used by Friday, but I couldn't get it pulled up on my phone so just paid cash. It was a nice relaxing hour, and later in the week, I'll treat DD2 to a hot chocolate and use the bonus Groupon. DH took DS and his mom up to look at the new cabin progress. DD2 was at home a bit alone as we overlapped being gone, but she was sleeping soundly when we came home. I'm trying to coax her to drink something and perhaps have some chicken noodle soup. I'm hoping she perks up, and can enjoy the remaining seven days of school holiday.
I hope you are are healthy and enjoyed your weekend. I leave you with this picture of DS, well padded, stepping in at my families Christmas Eve, to play Santa for his cousins children. He definitely has a touch of Hollywood in him.
We've been dealing with the stomach bug as well. On Christmas my sister had it. Today I went to a tutoring client's house and the mom had it. Seems to be going around a lot this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm worried he passed on to extended family. So far, I haven't heard anything but we were already there by the time we realized stomach bug not next day beer. Hope your family stays strong.
DeleteSounds like you had an interesting holiday.
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't get sick.Hope your family is feeling better.
Merry Christmas. :)
Knock on woid, so far so good. DH went to lay down about 5:00 p.m. and didn't get up. I'm hoping he beat it by pre-resting.
DeleteOK the Santa picture is just darling! I am so sorry you had stomach bugs running through the house. Why does that seem to always happen at Christmas?
ReplyDeleteWe have not so fond memories of the barfaramamas and the year flu hit at noon Christmas day. What do you do but endure it?
He had fun and brought quite a few laughs. Him holding my 6 month old great niece was adorable. He probably hasn't held a baby since his little sister. I'm hoping the bug has run its course but being extra vigilant.
