We ended up not going to the Christmas train. DD2 was making gingerbread houses at her besties. DH and I had a nice quiet dinner for two, using the last of the chicken in the freezer, a bagged salad kit, and green beans and then enjoyed a sappy Hallmark movie together. Well, he slept, then I fell asleep. Because of the icy roads and lack of experience in these conditions, we didn't let DD2 have her car so DH had to pick her up. I must have been tired as I slept though him leaving and coming home with her!
This is our last weekend without scheduled events. Besides cookie making, we need groceries. I still haven't finished my village, so that's on my list. I need to get out and do some chipping at some of the icy spots. Monday went from a warm 57 degrees, to a cool rain, to dropping temps to freezing and snow. We did not do a good job clearing and it is a safety hazard in a few spots. DD2 and I will do something Chrismasy-maybe a craft fair, though we need nothing, or a walk downtown and get a few pictures of the decorations. I still need a good picture for our Christmas cards-not doing the family one since all five us weren't together since last tyear, but I am being
For many years, some of us in my family have drive out to the Dakota village for an old time Christmas. We might do that if any of my sisters decide to go. I like having options, including, not choosing to do any of them and just tuck in with Christmas music, or a movie. I cn knock off some more wrapping today and for the most part, am pretty well set. It feels good to just say "good enough" and just do activities that make us happy than what is expected.
I'm going to do menu planning today before heading to the store so best get to it. I hope your Saturday is a good one.
Enjoy your baking...it's one of my great pleasures in life!

Making the cookies was a pure joy. Even baking-no weird spots.
DeleteMy cookie sheets are all stained and a bit wobbly and they aren't nearly as old as yours. I must have bought cheapies. I'll just use parchment paper on them I guess. Looked for my recipes yesterday and picked out WAY too many so will have to narrow it down a bit. What are YOU going to make on your new spiffy sheets?
ReplyDeleteI made my first 6 dozen cookies, red velvet crinkles and M&M. I've decided it was a necessity not a splurge.
DeleteEnjoy your baking! I've got kolacky dough chilling in the fridge right now and that is my afternoon project. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what those are but you said dough so I'm in!
DeleteCookie sheets with sides are priceless. I now use parchment paper on them so washing is nil or minimum. I bake sweet potatoes on my cookies sheets and reheat things, all with the help of parchment paper.
ReplyDeleteI never use it-just don't think yo buy it. I kept the old sheets for roasting potatoes.
DeleteI love new bake ware. It is so worth it!
