Monday-And I Need Some Rest

The party was a lot of fun. My brother was genuinely surprised. We didn't have great turn out by my nieces and nephews families, but the ones who came were a great help-my daughter was a champ again. Many of his friends and several cousins came. I know Saturdays are hard on young families, but it gets a bit old to have RSVP's of "maybe". What does that mean-I'll come if I don't have something better  or if something I'd rather come to falls through? It's hard planning food for maybe, especially when 2-3 maybe's can be a 10-15 difference in number of people. Just reply "no" and if you end up available a few days before, then call an aunt and we can make accommodations. I digress. We had the park pavilion until 8:00 and we used it the whole time. A wretched downpour threatened the late afternoon, but we saw the darkest of the clouds push past us and head farther south. We had sprinkles, but still managed a good fire. My nephew's little guy who just turned two was the proud  carrier of the marshmallows for s'mores.

DH and I then were on the road by 6:45. We did a coffee stop-no one wants to see me without coffee. We took our daughter to a restaurant recemmend by her friends, and it was pretty good. They had a simplish menu-a variety of of "hippy" bows,  assorted combinations of mac and cheese, burgers, and a few sandwiches. We will go back again-services was terrific and it was not terribly priced. While she had to be back for both a rehearsal and a  full chorus run through, DH and I managed to find an open Tires Plus and got her  slow leak on her rivers side front tire repaired. DH also planted himself to watch the  dismal Vikings game. I took several walks. I rarely can just sit and watch sports-need something else to do. The concert itself was lovely. We then got a few pictures, visited with her friends parents a bit,  talked some more with our kid, and were on the road by 6:00.

DD1 took great care of pup, but our stupid front door lock wouldn't cooperate, and she couldn't get the door locked. She stuck around until we were home-above and beyond the call of duty. I could go on another DH rant about the door, but I won't. I'm just appreciative of her.

I worked in the office for the morning and got a lot purge and packed. Now I have two boxes of work related stuff, a shopping bag of personal stuff, and a bag of shoes! So now I know where my one black heels and black flats have been. I suppose I wore winter boots or tennis shoes, and then changed out and left them behind. I think I regret hauling home as many   folders and documents that I did-I'll give them six months. If I do not reference, I'll recycle. I met my new team member in person today, and another older staff met the staff  I hired last November for the first time in person. We met in person to make sure all were on the same page for closing out a project. I was also flu shot clinic day. I'm OK so far. I'll be working later tonight. I have a bunch of documents with a 6:00 p.m. deadline, and I'm hoping to see them all by then. If not, I'll get a reminder message ready to send. I hope your Monday was good-I need a rest!

Now, to put stuff away.

  1. I hope you got some rest! You had a busy weekend.
It is nice you got to meet your team face to face. It seems like in person meetings are becoming fewer and farther apart!

    1. It wasn't all of us, but fun to see eyes. We were spread out and masked but no screens.

  2. I can see why you need a rest. I have had people who were waiting for a better offer. Guess what? I never invited them back to my monthly party/gathering. Cute, the bearer of marshmallows. Someone had to do it. What is wrong with your door?

    1. It's a segment of my family, and the spouses they married. They attend only when their certain the other family has nothing going on we have a cyber lock and the bolt wasn't catching. The alignment is off

  3. You're right. Responding "maybe" to an invitation is just not on, is it. Is it even better than no response at all? And oddly enough I think it's so not on when people don't respond but I see it happening more and more, even (especially?) for weddings. Still, I'm glad your brother had a lovely time all the same!

    1. Maybe means you probably have to count them, but they have an out if a no show. I'll track RSVPs down for a wedding though. At $100 + per guest, maybe is not going to cut it. Still, my sister's have had yes replies then no shows. Wasted good money.
