How are you all this morning? Dang if I didn't over exert my knee on Friday, up and down hard concrete stairs at the new office building. It's still confusing so I used the route I know, which is the hardest route on bad knees. While only three floors, it's high ceilings so a lot of steps if you need to move between floors and my knee is in rough shape. I feel it the day and two after. It's not the steps alone, but standing still for long periods of time. Let me walk and talk and I'm good, but standing for more than a few minutes the muscles supporting my knee strain. It'll be fine, but made getting things done yesterday unpleasant. I understand those that share the pain they feel going shopping, (hard floors), standing at the stove making dinner or washing dishes, and other tasks that put weight on joints for long periods of time without a lot of motion.
I'm at my daughter's today until late afternoon. We enjoyed our night and I'm looking forward to the three of us spending time throughout the week before we immerse with extended family. We'll eat for sure as we did the past week. No plan, but here it was.
- Sunday: Red bag chicken, leftover from freezer cheesy potatoes
- Monday: Crockpot mock lasagna
- Tuesday: Roasted veggies, cous cous, biscuits and gravy, daughter was here after puppy class and she had a veggie burger
- Wednesday: DH didn't feel well when he came home and just had some meet and cheese on crackers, I had a late lunch of leftover biscuits and gravy, then friend brought nibbles for trivia
- Thursday: leftover crockpot lasagna and pepperoni mini pizzas on bread. I had made tortilla soup too, some for freezer, and for lunches.
- Friday: Cheeseburger and steak fries
- Saturday: Bruschetta and homemade bread and chips and guacamole at my daughter's, leftover soup and hamburger for DH
This week will be busy, and DH is taking a lot of his remaining vacation time, so I imagine he'll meet up with people throughout the week. I thought I might plan a bit better for the week too.
- Sunday: Any soup leftover, plus grilled or broiled sandwich of some sort
- Monday: Stir fry over rice, egg or spring rolls
- Tuesday: Pork loin, baked apples, mashed potatoes ( puppy class so nice to have crockpot meal ready)
- Wednesday: I'll have leftovers for DH, but he also can join trivia where we're planning a little appetizer spread
- Thursday: BBQ pulled pork sandwich and steak fries
- Friday: Likely take out of some sort, or go out with DD1 to dinner. With just the three of us, this'll be our little Christmas night.
- Saturday: Christmas Eve spread at sister's. I'm bringing ham and an appetizer.
Sunday, the next day being Christmas we'll eat well again at his mom's. We've got her convinced she doesn't need to provide a thing, and each family shares the menu. It's always delicious as is the array of variety on Christmas Eve. I hope you have a good week, and avoid the viruses floating around, and cold temperatures. What's on your table?
I have two turkey breasts to bake today, maybe. I will find out what the protuberances on the breasts are at last. Then, I have a ham to slice, salad fixings. Maybe I will buy more carrots to bake. But, I have plety of sweet potatoes to bake, too. I am planning on cooking blackeyed peas in the crockpot for NYE, but I am getting started early, so will freeze enough for next week in addition to eating some with ham and collards this week.
ReplyDeleteThere's that words again, 🤣. I'm guessing they are part of the wing. I know the southern NY tradition thanks to blogs. Enjoy your food prep.
DeleteThey're predicting unseasonably cold weather here this week and possibly a little snow. It is the season for it. Enjoy your Sunday Sam
ReplyDeleteIt's only 5° right now and getting colder. We might get more snow Wednesday.
DeleteTonight M is grilling burgers. Otherwise, we're keeping it pretty simple this week, as we're heading out of town on Thursday. Thursday will be something quick at the airport, as we have to head there directly from Nick's soccer game. Friday, M & I are going to a Latin tapas place, & the boys will be with my parents. We are making prime rib on Saturday, and we always have soup on Christmas, with lots of appetizers.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds busy but good planning too. Our meals too will be simple.
DeleteGood morning! Woke up to a dusting of snow but it should be done for the day. Bummer about your knee, hard floors are brutal. I’m used to standing but I would struggle with all those stairs! I saw a recipe for a chicken cobbler on TikTok and I have everything for it, so that’s on the menu for today. I should make some soup too. I have roast in the freezer, probably will crock pot that sometime this week. Fried rice with egg rolls sounds good too. I’m also craving McDonalds, which I know is bad but delicious. We have no plans other than Christmas Day itself, we’ll take ham, cheesy potatoes, pasta salad and deviled eggs to my dads, and I’ll take a snack/app of some sort to my sister in laws later in the day. JoAnn
ReplyDeleteIcing really helped, and the knees better, well as better as it will get with no cartilage and bone in bone rubbing and bone spurs. Two Christmas's the same day is sure busy.
DeleteThe Indian isn't open on Xmas Day so we're having the Dead Relative's Society dinner at the Greek place on Xmas Eve instead. The Waste Not box was heavy on baking potatoes this week so jacket spuds with grated cheese and coleslaw will probably be at least three night's tea! xxx
ReplyDeleteI love all your plans to use the vegetables. My daughter would love that box. Enjoy your time with your friends.
