I've not had to drive anywhere since Sunday so not sure how roads are. We got a blanket of fluffy snow and cold temperatures but I took the dog a out at 4:45 and didn't feel wind blowing or in limited porch and street light, see drifting. Maybe we didn't get the blizzard conditions after all. I heard though there was supposed to be a lull, then conditions return today through Friday. I hope people have safe travels. I'm happy to say my daughter has met up with her big group of college friends back in Spain. Between getting to her hotel Tuesday evening near Stansted Airport, to less than streamlined check in and a packed flight, she was glad that leg of her adventure was done, though she had a great four days in London.
Because of the predicted weather, my daughter stayed here. She's got a local doctor appointment and will get my last needed item, fresh salad greens, for the weekend while she's out. I'm still working today and lightly tomorrow, but will do all the things to turn ingredients into meal dishes Saturday morning. It's another thrifty Thursday where I capture anything I did that saved me time, resources, and money. It's hard this time of year!
- More time than money saver, but a grocery store between my daughter's and my house had boneless ham on sale, plus sliced it for me. I prefer a bone in, but I just decided easier would do. It's 12 pounds boneless for sandwiches and should be plenty to go with other meat items for Christmas Eve. A sister is bring my buns.
Free will donation to get photos of grandpuppy. You have to celebrate the first! All proceeds go towards them building a dog park in her village.- I filled up my gas tank Saturday with 5¢ off gas, total then being $2.38. I treated myself to a small hot chocolate and it was free with my swipe points.
- Bought close to date cheese curds in a variety of flavors $2 pound bag, 5 pounds total. I can't get cheese that cheap at Aldi and this is right from the creamery.
- This is my daughter's find, but she got $10 off a training collar for puppy to help alert unwanted barking and other undesirable reactions. No shock collar, just a beep at an aggressive bark, to alert them to stop. We tried on pup too. It really helped both dogs calm a bit, but puppy in particular did great at his training class. He hadn't been a barker but the old guy taught him bad behaviors.
- DH was unwell, but thankfully we're fully stocked with tea, OTC meds if needed, and comfort food. He's loving having the antenna in the bedroom television, and we're keeping our distance.
- Loaded receipts in Fetch and played MS Rewards.
Sounds like a good week for you. I hope your dh is feeling better. Great deal on the cheese curds too. I love those. We got our Covid booster shots this week and it threw Bailey for a loop, but they always do. I hope you have a great weekend and very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHe said he felt 100% better, but then was wiped out after shoveling. Poor Bailey. This last booster wasn't much of an impact, but the flu shot gave me a headache and aches a day later. Merry Christmas!
DeleteLots of wins, & I hope your husband feels better!!
ReplyDeleteHe did, and then shoveled and was down again.
DeleteThose dog photos are adorable.
ReplyDeleteSorry that your husband isn't well. I hope he's better soon.
That's it for shopping for us this week, too, no more chazzas till 2023 now. I don't know about food, I'm pretty sure there's enough to keep us going whilst the shops are closed for a day. xxx
I don't think we need much now for weeks, truth be told. I learned about a good second hand alley kind of place not far. I might venture there some cold weekend.
DeleteThe weather is supposed to be wicked today. My boss said she would buy us lunch today, but I'm not going out in this weather. I'm staying in, and I'll heat up some soup for lunch. I'm all done with my shopping but Mr. D has a few errands to do, but he's used to this weather.
ReplyDeleteI had an unexpected 3:45 bathroom call from the young dog and it was brutal out there. I was out only 5 minutes but raw! We've plenty of both canned, packet, and frozen soup. When it's this cold, it's needed..
DeleteThe photos of your grandpuppy are adorable! Sorry that your dear hubby is not feeling well. I hope he feels better soon. We usually go out to eat on Christmas Eve, but with DH working until at least 5pm and the winter storm we are supposed to get who knows if we will even have power. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll figure out something fun instead. Maybe just easy things and save going out for after the cold front. We rarely lose power, but always a possibility.
DeleteWe're all done with Christmas shopping other than a few bits and pieces. Have a wonderful Christmas. Xx
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Christmas gatherings.
DeleteBeautiful pup. Our snow has started. Not sure how much we will get. I think the wind is what people are afraid of. We get lake effect snow here too so that won't help.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your frugal things. I am going for a low spend in January as a start.
He's a cutie. It definitely is the wind here now. It's howling and the television showed white out conditions.
DeleteSeveral weeks ago you were asking if anyone had heard from Ciphers from Cindi blog. She does have a new blog under a different name.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else pointed it out to me last month. It seems she was well, but now had a post of a recurrence of a health issue. That's why I was wondering about her blog as it just dropped. I wish her well and healing.
DeleteWhat is her new blog name? I knew her when she wrote the Diary of a Mad Retiree blog, or something like that, before and at the beginning of Covid. Cindy in the South
DeleteIt's the same, but has 4 after, I think: Ciphersfromcindy4. It's WordPress so blogger users like me have issues.
DeleteThe puppy pictures are ADORABLE!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he handsome.
DeleteI saw the title 'no more shopping" and say out loud good for you
