It's been a week, but ending in good notes. Here's my World in W's as of January 7, 2023
What's Top of Mind:
All my kids are here. It was such a nice feeling having all five of us in the same room. Pup was so excited to see DS but completely lost his calm when he saw the college kid.
Where I've been:
Airport runs. The roads were still dicey late Wednesday/ early a.m. Thursday getting DS, but were a breeze last night. My gabbing with my older daughter who rode along, had me miss my exit, but a quick route correction and we timed things well. I even snapped a picture of her coming through the arrival doors. Coincidentally she had the same travelling T-shirt. They got one more group photo.
Where I’m going:
I don't even want to think about going anywhere! The hustle and bustle will resume after they leave and I'll have another airport run Wednesday. My older kids grocery shopped for the weekend for me too.
What I'm eating:
I roasted vegetables and tomatoes for a really tasty sauce last night for pasta. Because I didn't time things well with airport, the penne overcooked but it was still good. We had pulled pork, turkey meatloaf, and twice baked potatoes this week as well.
What I’m watching:
I guess more football, and keeping track of the young player who suffered the cardiac arrest after a hit. We had a movie called Ambulance on last night. It was pretty good, but I missed first half.
What I’m reading:
I reserved my book club book, The People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry, but it was cancelled so had to rehold. It's says in transit, so if it comes today or Monday I can still binge read. My daughter read and said it's a fast read.
What I’m listening to:
Right now, I'm listening to DH play with the young dog. Otherwise everyone else is sleeping and older daughter at the gym. I'm to wake DD2 up at 12:30 if she doesn't wake in her own. She fell asleep with the movie in (the guys had started when we were at airport, then restarted late.)
What I’m planning:
I'm pausing any planning for a few days. I'm thinking family time, getting daughter ready for her move back to a campus apartment for her last semester, but not much beyond that. I've got work things that need planning and execution, but not these next four days. I do plan to change the batteries in the scale. I don't think I gained weight over the holidays, but haven't done an official check.
Who needs a good slap:
I'm in a happy mood so can give my hand a rest this week.
Who Deserves Knuck's (Fist Bump):
The snowplow drivers, the road sanders, and all emergency response crews. Despite the harsh weather, things got up and running with ease. Also thanks to medical staff in clinics, hospitals, and ERs. Illness is high with flu, Covid, RSV and they are swamped.
What’s making me smile:
I think you all know! I'll add it made me smile when my sister dropped off a tin of krumkake for my son, his favorite. He's even going to share with his sister, who loves them too. Next year she can learn from her grandma and aunt.
I'm looking forward to seeing photos, having our little Christmas and any other family. I'll clean this morning, and tonight might just be a few Take and Bake pizzas with anyone that wants to join us. I don't want to cook sloppy joes or goulash since we had pasta last night. I'm making a turkey dinner tomorrow but tined down, but need to get the bird thawed. Happy Saturday.
So very happy for you! Enjoy all of your time together.
ReplyDeleteTop of mind for me: work & my giant to do list, getting the kids back into the routine of school & activities next week, Sam's new job, etc.
I wish you and I both could forget about work! After vacation, routines are hard. I'll have a strange week inserting vacation into the front end.
DeleteEnjoy your family time :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's good to have my family together.
DeleteI had to laugh about you missing your exit. When I'm with someone talking I do that all the time - I thought it was just me! I suppose the saying "you can't walk and chew gum" really applies in my case. Have a wonderful time with your family, and do take loads of pictures!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I'm not a one off driver missing exits!
DeleteSo so happy for you to have all kids under one roof! I am just trying to survive the nightmare work week next week. That is all. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your schedule with such crucial stakes.
DeleteIt sounds like you are having a happy, busy time.
ReplyDeleteIt's been good, but low key too. My kids aren't high maintenance when they're home.
DeleteI'm happy to see family get togethers! Top of my mind this week is getting back into a routine for work and life.
ReplyDeleteEase in I hope. You still need your down time too.
DeleteSo glad you have all of your family home and safe! Enjoy your time! Gonna check out that book to see if it’s something I’ll like! 😁
ReplyDeleteI hope it comes in, or I'll have to find cliff notes.
DeleteI am SO glad you have everyone together at home. Enjoy every moment. Everything else can wait.
ReplyDeleteEverything else is a disaster, house, work, yard, roads so why not just enjoy them.
DeleteENJOY! Top of my mind/coupled with slap: The fact that the house can now be held hostage by a small faction of radical right-wing crazies. Freedom Caucus my ass.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking they'll continue to eat their own... But then the worst survive.
DeleteHow wonderful to have your whole family together! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good feeling to wake up to an almost flashback.
DeleteOh my goodness all your kids are home, that's so wonderful Sam! I wish you a fabulous few days together with lots of laughter and connection.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's been busy but the good kind.
DeleteThere’s no better feeling than savoring time together as a family, and no better sleep than having all your kids under one roof with you. This was very much a nothing-week. Typical January blahs but we got through it, and that’s all that counts. JoAnn
