I had a terrific day with my sisters yesterday. We started with breakfast and then headed towards a country farm that had a huge barn loaded to the rafters with country and Christmas crafts. I bought a seed bag purse for DD2, one just like a version we had seen in a boutique in town, and a soy candle. We stopped at several small shops in small towns up along the Minnesota down Wisconsin sides of the Mississippi. We had tastings at both a winery and a cidery, coming home with a couple bottles of a delicious white wine for Thanksgiving and two different variety's of hard ciders. I brought home treats of local cheese and pepperoni sticks, and krumkake from a Scandinavian bakery for DH and DD2. We ended our day playing cards at one of my sisters, and toasting our sister J.
My hunt for a television stand is over. After my dad died, my sister had taken my parents stand to store for me as she knew I wasn't ready for it. In the years since, I had thought her son, who just bought a house, had more need for it and was using in his home. While browsing an Amish made beautiful piece yesterday, my sister mentioned she still has the stand in her basement for me. They're going to drop it off sometime today. What a nice sister-I'm a little embarrassed-she's been storing it, and now she is delivering it for me.
Other things on the docket today include a viewing and reception at the arts center where DD2 takes her lessons. A local photographer, a dad of one of her classmates, takes up close and behind the scenes pictures of various performing arts events in town. The showing is a visual arts take on the performing arts. Before though, I need to stop at a wake for a classmate that passed away earlier in the week, having never recovered from a heart attack and surgery in mid September. I'll stop by and pay my respects before the photography reception. No doubt I will see many former classmates. 51 is too young. I try to remember as much and take joy in each day. My Sunday will be ordinary and without thrills, though it is a testament to a good life, a happy life. In that there is magic.
An ordinary Sunday sounds lovely. I'm trying to get my body clock re-adjusted after Singapore, and have a long list of regular chores to do as well. I'd much rather be at home, having a boring Sunday vs traveling!
ReplyDeleteAt least one extra hour this week for you. I know not enough.
DeleteI am into this long boring stay at home Sunday as well. I need to scrub the front porch and door surroundings. It is in the 80's and sunny so it's a good day to tackle it, plus it will still look good when it comes time for Christmas decorations.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't get as warm as predicted. Cold job and I'll need to give it another go.
DeleteSounds like fun with your sisters, my kind of perfect day. 51 is way too young but as you say, live each day your best
ReplyDeleteIt is a lo key day with them. Lots of stupid laughing-the silly kind.
DeleteAn ordinary Sunday without thrills sounds wonderful. Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteI did. I hope you had a good weekend.
