DD2 is still on bed and I won't wake her. We both had a 19 hour show choir day but I didn"t perform twice and reherse twice. I was mighty glad I packed a few sandwiches on the skinny round breads. Consessions was poor and they ran out of anything decent and just kept ordering more pizzas. This was unusual. Everything about the day was unusual. I won't go into details, but I think there's a reason they haven't done this venue for 7 years.
Today will be rest, house and homework, and revovery. I have a headache and body ache from lifting and too much standing. A pot of oil based eye shadow fell out of DD's bag and it was the devil to clean up-on hands and knees with eye makeup remover and cotton pads for 10 minutes!
This is a quick selfie of her and me. I'll post all costumes at some point. The face and amount of makeup might help you understand the floor situation. Have a good Sunday.

A 19 hour competition day is a long hard day! You both look like you re having fun (stage makeup and all)
ReplyDeleteSeveral of the moms and dads were old class mates I've stayed frienldy with, so always fun when we chaperone together. I enjoy meeting the kids that I don't see regualllry and the whole activity of show choir is really unlike the student sports world. As one boy mentioned, that though they are competing, but ultimatley, performing and that is something of joy.
DeleteThat's a long time. I hope that everything went well with the performances. Your daughter looks very grown up and professional. Jx
ReplyDeleteWhile they were disapointed in a third place finish, they vastly improved from the preview show Tuesday night, and between the preliminaries and the finals. After their finals perfromance, they were all very pumped up and excited and proud of what they did. Once the make-up came off, she was my peanut again.
DeleteLovely pic Gorgeous of you both
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy. I know you saw on Instagram-same photo multiple use.
DeleteYour daughter is lovely! Chip off the Mom block:) Now...get some rest!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if my face has ever seen that much make up though! I even took a nap today.
DeleteHappy new year to the both of you.
ReplyDelete2018-so far, so good! Happy New Year to you and Someone as well.
DeleteBeautiful picture! Your daughter is stunning! but, wow that is a LOOOONG day for both of you! I would probably sleep for the next week if it were me! Hope you are able to get some rest.
ReplyDeleteEven with coahc buses, it was a very long bus ride home, only to then unload risers, costumes, racsk, and band equipment at 1:30 a.m. in the cold, then drive home. Keeps me young thugh, right?
DeleteOh my goodness - such a long day! And, you are both so lovely. Your daughter looks a lot like you.
ReplyDeleteThank you. She does have my coloring, but she is very petite. They order the smallest dresses they come in and then alter the heck out of them! Another girls is as little as she is,taller, but might even be slimmer than my daughter. However there are some larger girls in the group and all sizes shapes, colors, and complexions in between and each and everyone is stunningly beautiful and part of the whole group. That is part of the beauty of show choir-a place for all.
DeleteThis takes me back to my girls when they were performing and since Hubs was in the pit and I was costuming or doing choreography we had many long days. But I loved every minute of it. You two look beautiful Like mother like daughter.
