I am a tad bit under the weather, stomach bug and head ache, but not out right sick. I feel like I should just push through it. I went to work, but headed home early afternoon and am working from home rest of day, and probably a bit over the weekend. I'm feeling muddy brained and not quite sure that what I would turn out work wise would be up to par, so am really thinking a short nap would be a better option. Napping on an 87 degree sunny summer afternoon seems the epitome of lazy. If I'm not working, shouldn't I be doing something loaded with summer fun? Shouldn't I be playing with DD at the beach, or giving pup a good play outside. If I'm not doing work work, shouldn't I at least be doing laundry and hanging clothes on the line?
It seems though, this lazy spirit I have right now isn't a bad thing, and there are real benefits to succumbing to the desire to crash. A quick Google search gave me pages of articles on the benefits of napping. Here are a few of my favorite quotes.
From The Art of Manliness, "History is full of famous nappers."
The Daily Touch states "...research has identified an intriguing and mysterious brain network which
is crucial for our health and is only activated when we’re living the
lifestyle of a coach potato."
"COUPLE being lazy with being SMART. That adds up to being EFFICIENT." says Active Rain.
A little snooze time and I might be right as rain. This little guy is not having any guilt at all. Is there anything more precious as a sleeping baby, and anything more unpleasant than a cranky and tired grown-up? How about our pets? Pup sleeps no less than 16 hours in a day. A major activity in parts of his day is getting up, stretching, and finding a new place to lay down again. Yet the thought of taking a nap this afternoon feels like a selfish indulgence for me. Well, maybe just a short one would be alright. I need to get my "mysterious brain network" ignited. Wake me in 20.
