Fall is Moving On

Cold, wet, and dreary.
Blizzard warnings in far north and western Minnesota. Torrential cold rains here, with predictions of ice and slush overnight. Goodbye lovely fall. I worked from home, as I do most Fridays. I haven't taken my actual day off for a while, but will use them between Christmas and New Years, which will be lovely for when my son is home. I had yet another doctor appointment, plus chest x-ray, EKG, and blood screening. I'm cringing to think about the bills racking up. I have to say kudos's to all who have been involved in all these pesky visits. I've been treated with kindness, respect, and a little reciprocated humor. Apparently I take good care under my boob area-not dry and cracking, which is a problem for busty women, according to one of the technicians. Oh she had me laughing.

DD is at show choir choreography practice most of the weekend. We're supposed to have a family gathering on DH's side Sunday, but now the schedule has changed and DD finishes now earlier than originally scheduled, in the middle of the event, so might be my rational for not going. This is for a birthday gathering which I just grin and bear anyway, even though one of the birthdays being celebrated is mine. I can feign not feeling great, which would be true, as an out as well. I'm such an anti-social being sometimes. However, doesn't everyone have certain  events or interactions with people that they need to be at peak for?
Before baking and before cheese.
I ended up tossing the leftover macaroni with tomatoes, beans, plain yogurt, and lots of garlic, pepper, and  a little curry powder for supper tonight. I'll pop in a 325 oven for 40 minutes, top with some cheddar cheese, and bake another 20 minutes. There will be steamed broccoli on the side. I hope it's good-sounds good to me. DD can have a portion when she gets home for a late snack, but she'll be fed dinner and lunch at school tomorrow.  I'll reserve a portion for my lunch, but there is also some leftover frozen lasagna, so I will not go hungry. DH 's company brings lunch in on Saturdays as they are too busy to get away. My friends chicken wild rice soup from the soup swap was gobbled up with my family wanting more, so I think I'll get a big pot made for tomorrow nights supper.

DH grabbed a few more groceries when I wasn't looking. I added $7 in purchases from the dollar store, my lemonade singles, Betty Crocker frosting, Reeses, and chips, and now I am left with $31 for the rest of the month, not counting my $50 Thanksgiving cushion. I have to send a salad for Sunday and pick up fruit for show choir snacking, so that will take at least half, but I am determined. Plus, I think a couple things I have in my pantry will end up being used for Thanksgiving, so I can credit myself back. I'll be slothing around this weekend due to lack of energy and the weather. There's a mound of laundry to wash and fold. I look forward to reading your big adventures this weekend, so please share what is ahead for you the next few days.

  1. Oh I have an exciting weekend planned here.....a trip to the Dollar General south of here to find gift cards($10 off wyb2), maybe a wander around a small mall(haven't been in one in years)for DH and I before the shopping craziness hits next weekend and using our Bonanza buffet freebie tickets for dinner. Plus cleaning and organizing around the house so we can use the living and dining rooms next week. I need to find a place to put Daughter's "hang upside down" machine so we can eat Thanksgiving. Oh my problems! lolz

    1. Maybe if I hung upside down I'd stop all this bleeding nonsense. I'm not one for malls either. Good luck with your prep.

  2. Sounds like you weather is heading my way. 65 today, massive temp drop and snow tomorrow. We might get a lot of snow here though. It's called lake effect. Tend to get lots of it because of Lake Michigan being a few minutes away.

I hope something comes of all the tests. It's no fun going through all that!

  3. Your dinner sounds lovely. Bet you enjoyed it.
It's sunny but very cold this morning but I'm going to layer up and tackle the leaves covering most of the garden. There's none left on the tress now. xxx

    1. Let's just say the pasta was edible. I like experimenting and sometimes it doesn't work perfectly. We mulch our leaves but that mess in the picture has to be dealt with.

  4. Today we're going to the Lamplighter Parade in Todmorden with K,A and K's in-laws. It's a shame I woke up feeling cr*p and don't want to go, as usually I really enjoy it. Today I would much rather be at home in my pyjamas. I'll have to paint on a smile and get on with it, but it feels like that's going to be difficult today:( Maybe tomorrow will be better and I'll get to stay in bed all day.
Hope the test results are good and that your op goes well x

    1. The parade sounds festive but hard to enjoy when feeling lousy. I would like to see my little niece and nephews and haven't been to DH' s brothers new home, and am happy for them but being with lots of loud people is hard when I'm not chipper. I'll cross my fingers for a day of rest for you Sunday.

  6. Ah yes, your Thanksgiving is coming up next week. And then you'll only have a few days left of November. What with leftovers you should be able to make it til the end of the month with the money you have budgeted. Aren't I the optimistic one? :)

  7. First, all of my hugs to you for your post. It really touched me. Thanks for caring.

You are the best. Truly, it meant a lot to me.

We have our last soccer games this weekend, & the end of season party. It may rain, so we'll see if that holds. Otherwise, we're spending the weekend getting ready for our trip next week (Hawaii - yeah!) & I have a bunch of work/work to finish before I go.

Hope your experimental dinner was fab!

  8. Nothing exciting going on here this weekend the weather so far is cold wet and windy. We did venture out to see Inferno and debated about going to the pub but decided against it so went straight home. Today we are going to book some accommodation for our big trip starting in Feb so that's fun if a little frustrating as Lovejoy will be going for the cheapest options me not so much lol.

    1. Where to this year? I love a good planning. I will start researching Yellowstone after the new year. We ended up getting some sunshine of course after 3:00 so just 90 minutes but good for the mood.
