Murphy's Law on Calendar Managment

Anything that can go wrong will go wrong, says Mr. Murphy. I think he also must have decided that anytime a person goes away for a weekend, the calendar must be filled the week preceding. I try and lead a low key life in the summer. It is just too darn short in Minnesota to not be able to take advantage of spur of the moment things, a nice evening relaxing on the deck, or an impromptu walk or swim because  the calendar is over scheduled. This week though, when I have a house that needs attention, laundry to do, and pup details to take care of,  I've been over run with entries on the calendar. Added to that, trying to find a darn dress that I don't spend a fortune on, plus will feel good about myself wearing, and I have yet to have a relaxing evening at home.

Tonight was a volleyball team meeting/drinks. I've decided I am not playing but will use the time to walk the track (or nearby outside during nice weather.) Still I'll be on the roster to sub should they get really short. My knee is just not up to handling the strain on a regular basis, but I don't want to lose out on the after game meet ups. I've had a going away get together and tomorrow a retirement party of a former colleague. I am happy to do them all, just wished they were spaced out farther.

I found a dress-actually two. I bought both, to try in better lighting and with different shoes, as I am not completely decided which to keep. One fits my body shape a bit better, but isn't as pretty. The other makes me smile, but I just don't think I'll get additional use out of it. It might be a little young for me. DD2 scoffed at that, and said she liked it. Though, she also thought the other might be more practical. I'll let you now with a few pictures after Saturday. Both got the thumbs up from both DH and DD2. I bought a third, because it is a shirt dress style I have been looking at, very practical for work, and things after. DH 's comment was that it looks like something a 70 year old woman would wear. He felt bad and tried back paddling, but I did ask for his honest opinion. It will be going back, along with one of the blue dresses.

I'm quite tired after a couple delicious sangria's with the girls and an early start this morning. I'll call it a night and end the blog. Does anyone else know what I mean about how things pile in on the same weeks? Any tricks to better manage your time when it does?

  1. My hubby can be too "honest" when I want his frank opinion...but that is what I want and no one want's to look like an old grandma if you aren't one. I hope the dress thing sorts itself out. Go with the one that makes you smile!

    1. Yes, I don't want top spend good money on something less than flattering. I already have that in my closet.

  2. My 2 cents worth (and that is about what it is worth) is to go with the dress that works best with your shape. It might not be the prettiest but you can always accessorize to dress it up a bit.

    1. I'm packing both and seeing what DD1 thinks, but I am leaning to the more conservative one.

  3. Oh I know how "everything" seems to happen all at the same time! I actually quite like the busyness of it but then I find I crash as it takes it out of me too. And I would go with the dress that makes me "smile". Anna

    1. Fortunately, the other dress is very likeable as well.I was glad I made the retirement party a priority.

  4. Yep any dress that makes you smile is the one to keep. Wear it, smile and have a fab time.

    1. I partially agree, but don't want to waste the money on a one occasion dress.
