Bachman's House 2019 |
I have two lanterns like the ones above but mine are green and red. I wanted to put lights in mine, but so far haven't found the right size that will work but I take a quick look when I am in the few stores I venture to. We are quite minimalist in our light decorations on the outside and in, but I have taken a shine, pardon the pun, to mini lights inside. I like them on the mantel and around the little dresser on the dining room. They add a cheeriness to an already cheerful spot.
Not minimalist, I mentioned the Griswold House in our town. Saturday we did go take a look. It is truly something to imagine, and here it is. I'll end this post here, while visions of electric bills dance through your head.
Wow, the Griswald's house is something else isn't it. I wouldn't have the energy for that - either physical or electricity-wise!
ReplyDeleteMe either. I can do my porch in under an hour. I'd like to do the garage as well-maybe this year after Christmas I'll get some easy clips, or something to use. Hubs is a bit of a grinch, so I like to do what I can do myself.
DeleteSomeone did a study and found that PA is on or near the top of a List of Folks who electrify their houses/yards for Christmas. Looking around in this corner of PA I think they got that right. I pity the folks who have to pay those electric bills! lolz
ReplyDeleteWell, it is PA-need to brighten spirits. LOL. I can't imagine the bills-ours go up just withth elittle bit we have.
DeleteYour tree is very pretty and that Griswold House is way over the top lol!
ReplyDeleteNow it will just be loaded with family ornaments, plus th elights but pre ornaments, the glow is nice on a tree.
Deletethat's a lot of work to put up lights like that! I say if you enjoy it and can afford it, why not? My mom used to really do a lot of lights on the front of her small house. It was so cute. Looked like a little Candy cane Christmas house.
ReplyDeleteThey sure have brought cheer and conversation in town. I think your mom's house does sound cute.
DeleteGoodness me, I wouldn't want to live in the house opposite to that one!
ReplyDeleteI love your tree with the lights, very tasteful. xxx
We drove by about 6:15 and we had to negotiate the street with other gawkers. That would annoy me more than the lights as neighbors. I do like our tree-it's the right size and we put lot sof lights on it.
DeleteWowza!!! That's a LOT of light on a dark December night...
ReplyDeleteI need to get more lights up outside myself, but not that many!
I wish I could negotiate the garage myself, but too risky so I just do the porch which I can do myself.
DeleteIn the last few years we have had thousands of lights outside. (DH has been working out of town this year so he hasn't had the chance to get most of them up.) He is a master electrician and knew which type of lights to use. Our bill only went up by a few dollars a month, because we used the newer, energy efficient LED bulbs. I always liked coming home in the dark to all the lights.
ReplyDeleteI love my walks with the dog and seeing the pops of lights, and then seeing our own simple ones makes me smile. Does your husband have any tips?
DeleteReally that would be a blinder. I love a tree with just lights.
ReplyDeleteThey just glowed a long ways away! ITs the lights on the side of the hosue that crack me up.
DeleteYour tree is pretty with the lights and love the use of the lights on your wine rack thing. :)
ReplyDeleteLast year I decided to keep the light sup for the wine rack/dresser. I sometimes plug them in summer nights too.
DeleteOur neighborhood is notorious for having house decorations like this; each house trying to outdo the other. Oh the horror.
ReplyDeleteI like your tree too.
With the nice weather we have had in November and people with more time, I'm seeing more lights. We are the basic house!
DeleteI am a huge fan of the little mini lights in different places. Yours are lovely. We have had years before with nothing on the trees but tons of lights. I like them that way also.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor across the street has two small trees on her porch with just white lights-so pretty ad inviting. I get the advantage of seeing hers more than she does.
