Merry Christmas Eve with W's

Brrr it's been a dite chilly. This is when I wish I liked a  nice hot coffee liqueur drink. I'll settle for just plain coffee with a bit of milk, hot chocolate, or tea. Blog Land is still quiet, but I've gotten into a morning pattern that's hard to shake. Today's Christmas Eve and temperatures are supposed to be out of negative numbers and the wind chill has stabilized. We'll celebrate tonight in my sister's toasty home. There's ham to get in the crockpot, a treat tray to organize, and an appetizer to prep, chill then bake. I'll get food ready for tomorrow as well.Christmas Eve is here.  Here's my Christmas World in W's right now.

What's Top of Mind:

My kids in wide flung places. DS is in sunny California, and we'll get to chat and connect. He'll be here January 4th. DD2 is in sunny Barcelona, with seven good friends, crammed in a couple hotel rooms.  Their next location is Aix en Provence, France. She messaged a stunning picture of herself with the Mediterranean Sea behind her.

Where I've been:

No where since Tuesday night puppy class. I've let the dogs out of course, but DH and DD1 ran the few errands I had on my behalf.

Where I’m going:

One of us needs to stop at the brewery for gifts of crowlers to partner with Athletic jerseys. Other goings are to my sister's tonight, but first, a side trip to pick up my cousin. Tomorrow it's my MILs. I've said I'm not going into stores until after New Years, but maybe I'll be one of the fools looking for deals post Christmas. Maybe I'll just keep my butt warm at home.

What I'm eating:

I'll have ham warming in a while, ready to get out to my sister's. Last night we had an sort of fend for yourself, but I made DH and myself a sort of chicken cheese roll-up. We've made burritos this week and stir fry and spring rolls. DH was feeling better Thursday and made up for not eating Wednesday by grazing on leftovers and hoagie sandwiches.

What I’m watching:

I don't even remember what Christmas movies, but I've watched a few more Game of Thrones episodes. My son ,in our very deep analysis conversations, feels the whole book series is the authors anti-war, anti rich analogy to modern day. The rich form ungodly allegiances, turn on each other, gobble each other up, while ignoring the real threats (climate change, famine, pollution) that will really be humanity's downfall. Wait, we watched It's a Wonderful Life and White Christmas

What I’m reading:

I want to read something this coming week. I likely won't attend book club with my kids home, but still will read the book, The People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry.

What I’m listening to:

I've had Christmas YouTube videos on while making treats. Three ingredient cookies. Crockpot Christmas dinner. Someone's making a Christmas meal from Dollar Tree. It's pretty quiet here. It'll stay that way unless the dogs decide to be loud.

What I’m planning:

I've set aside looking at mini get aways, but it's in my brain. There's a few weekends it won't work, but DH needs to see of those that will, which can be his Saturday off.

Who needs a good slap:

I'm still full of the holiday spirit, so my slapping is deferred until January.

Who Deserves Knuck's (Fist Bump):

The two colleagues who were on my interview team. We found the perfect hire. Now, just hoping they accept! This position has been vacant since May. Ridiculously long time to spread work.

What’s making me smile

The glow of lights, shiny paper, and color. I'm not into getting presents, but I can't deny they look pretty under a tree.

We've all got a bit of cabin fever here. Well take the puppy in several but very short walks and runs up and down the hill. My daughter escaped to the gym for a bit yesterday and DH in his typical procrastination mode, must have done all his shopping yesterday, despite his ankle acting up again. That man's going to drive me to have no sympathy when he's at his worst if he keeps ignoring signs of illness or injury. I hope your day is merry and bright. I hope you stay safe and warm, and spend time with people that make you happy.

    1. The ham was delicious as was all the food. My daughter's veggie bites, heavily baked with jalapeno jelly sauce were delicious too.

  6. I’m working today but we haven’t been busy. I ordered pizza for us girls here, ran to Walmart on my break to pick up stuff for green bean casserole that we decided last minute that we need to have ;) and a gift card for my dad. It’s so incredibly cold and the roads are slick with slush so we probably won’t go out and look at lights tonight. Just going to cuddle up in the couch and watch movies, have a beverage and relax. 7. The only thing prepared here was sausage balls. We ate the sausage balls for dinner, ham or chicken for lunch, fruit, lots of salad, cheese, and Russell Stover leftover candy. I talked to Lynda. We both slept late. We have watched Home Alone in NY, It's A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story today. So, lots of fun tv. Tommy has watched a few short, animated things, forgot what. He only went to the mail box at the end of the driveway. I did not even look out the fanlight at the yard. But, we had no snow and 27F was the high.
Christmas Day will be the Thanksgiving Dinner, the same thing I usually cook for Christmas! I will go to after Christmas sales! Merry Christmas!

    1. Yeah for you getting that Thanksgiving dinner. It sounds like you and Tommy are enjoying your holiday and that makes me smile. Enjoy the Russel Stover. They make a nice box of chocolates.
