I write when I feel like it. There's no real time in my life it seems. Remember when I blogged daily? That was a lifetime ago, but really just about 12 weeks. My weeks start on Wednesdays in my head now. If and when I blog, events may be days or weeks old, and possibly merged together in a post with other snippets on different days and weeks. It is comfort to put words down.
He and I were both tired as he was unhappy all night with thunderstorms and dare I say, missing grandpup to snuggle in bed with? My daughter had him at her house for the weekend. I was going to just take pup on a road walk, not wanting to get soaked with puddles again in the park, but he clearly wanted the park, pulling in that direction. He is the master, so to the park we went. I rarely look down with pup, just let him do his thing, but something caught my eye. Sluggy would be proud of me finding not one, but five pennies and a quarter. Right after, pup did his thing, the spittle was ramping up into full on rain so we hightailed it home.
I'm not a huge sign person. But, I like to think the the timing of pup needing a second walk, his insistence on the park path, and the downpour holding off until after I picked up the change might be something. DH was always losing change from his pocket, though usually on the bathroom or bedroom floor. I know it likely was just somebody dropping change walking back from the grocery store. But, what if there was more to it? The change went into the canister, the old croissant and baguette fund, canister, the one I used symbolically as we prepared for our family trip in 2018 to France, Belgium, and Germany. I can think he was saying something, can't I?
At the very least, that's a lot of good luck you picked up (and yes, I believe your DH was saying something, too).
ReplyDeleteSending hugs!
ReplyDeleteI think we can receive messages to comfort us. Sometimes I think we have comforting dreams too.
I definitely believe in pennies from Heaven and I think your DH was definitely with you on that walk! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI do think it was a sign, Sam. I'm not superstitious or a believer but after both my parents died some very strange things happened to me that can't be explained. xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a sign person either, but sometimes there are moments that are hard to ignore, or things that give you comfort either way. I'm glad you had that experience, and I always feel lucky when I find change, and repeat the "find a penny, pick it up. All day long, you'll have good luck." in my head, when I find one on the ground.
ReplyDeleteYou can think whatever you want! There are symbols to found everywhere, even if they aren't meant for everybody. I've been thinking of you a lot, Sam.
ReplyDelete"They" say finding dimes can be a message from Heaven too. One fall we were cleaning some things out at my grandparents farm house. They have both been gone for 25-30 years. While we have used the house in later years, it doesn't get used often. I opened the door to the woodshed and right on the threshold was a shiny dime. I like to think they were telling me that they were there ;)
ReplyDeleteMy 43 old nephew died a few weeks ago, he was on hospice so had many conversations before. He said I’ll come back as an eagle as a sign. The crazy places we’ve seen eagles! Jre
ReplyDeleteYes, you can think whatever you like. So you think it's a sign of sorts? Was it? :)
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely can think he was saying something!!! I've always said I'm not particularly superstitious but when my dad died we were chatting after the funeral and my sister talked about a friend of hers who is psychic (sp?). Amongst many other things we talked about that day was that this friend told her that a white feather is the symbol of your guardian angel. I won't go into the whole story as I told it on my blog, but do look out for a white feather. It may be nonsense - or maybe it's not. Either way, it's very comforting and your husband might now send you feathers - as well as pennies from heaven! In fact, I'm sure he will just to let you know he's still with you!
ReplyDeleteYes, you may. I lost my dear sister suddenly in 2017 and my mom last November. I am always thinking of them and looking for signs. Well the other day I looked down and there were two pennies side by side face up!! Thinking of you and sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI love that sign for you. ❤️
ReplyDeleteYou sure can. I do believe in signs - and get them from time to time. So says me and my mind - and you know what? Doesn't atter what others think! I love that.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE signs like this (I am a big sign person)! I definitely think it was your DH sending you a message to tell you he is still watching over you.
ReplyDeletePennies from Heaven, yes you can believe he is sending you a sign. Take care of yourself any way you need to.
ReplyDeleteSam, I have read your blog for a few years but have not commented. I think your husband was sending you a sign that he was thinking of you. I have had similar experiences.

That seems to be a lot of money at one time. Maybe the rain gently washed it to a low spot. For what are you designating this fund? You might as well name it...lol. So, why was your dog at your daughter's house?
ReplyDeleteHer dog (grandpup) was at my daughter's house and my dog with me.
DeleteI always think that a coin found is a gift from the spirit world. Arilx
ReplyDeleteI have always believed change found was a sign from those in heaven.
ReplyDeleteShortly after my dad died I was working in the yard and happened on a fresh white feather. There are no birds around here that are white so I kept the feather and have always thought it was from Dad.
ReplyDeleteI believe that you can think whatever brings you some comfort. My dad always said he'd come back as a robin. I still say 'Hello Dad' when I see one, and they often hang around when we're in the garden or at the allotment. Xx
ReplyDeleteEvery time I come across a "sign" of some sort like this, I just go ahead and accept that its exactly what I want it to be, and it feels comforting to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm also not a huge believer in signs, but I do think they happen when needed. I've experienced a few as well. You'll know, as this event spoke to you. I find comfort in them, and hope you do too.
ReplyDeleteI believe their are signs everywhere...if you see or feel something that makes you think of your husband, he is there. Helping you get through this terrible grief and pain.
ReplyDeleteThere was a mother of 2 young children tragically killed in our area after being hit by a car. At her graveside service a butterfly flew and landed on her children and stayed by them the entire time. She loved butterflies and even had a tattoo of one. I don't think anyone left dried eye after witnessing that. She was definitely there for her children that day.
Isn’t it a comfort to see a sign from
ReplyDeletesomeone we love who has died
I would cherish this

Hmmm does the number 30 have some significance to you? Interesting. I’m not a huge signs/fate sort of person but it does seem like you were meant to find those coins. So glad to see you posting. JoAnn
ReplyDeleteReading of you finding these coins makes me think of the books by SQuire Rushnell..."When God Winks" Excellent books.
ReplyDeleteLots of us out there find small signs of those we love and hold them in our hearts. Thinking of you, Sam.
ReplyDeleteI write when I feel like it. good for you! it's the way to go. With that said I am always glad to read when you do.
ReplyDeleteThe found change and references to your DH always dropping made me smile for you. I hope your thoughts gave you a smile too.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you are posting a bit. I feel ike putting your words down are helping you with your grief. I do believe in "signs" and cherish them. Seeing a Cardinal always makes me smile. I always talk with them. Thanks so much for sharing your words with us, Sam. I think of you often and send thoughts and prayers from Wisconsin. Chris.
ReplyDeleteHe was definitely saying something, he was saying that even now he's still taking care of you. He couldn't send you food or the pup would have eaten it, so he sent you pennies & a quarter from Heaven. I just got back to blogging to find out about your loss. I am so sorry for you and your children. My sister lost her husband in November of 2022 and I've been witnessing her journey since day one and I know how difficult it has been for her. She is always looking for blogs to read of like minded people, so I am going to send her the link to your blog. Take care Sam and hugs.
