It's been a mish mash of weather- really cold, but then almost melty, then a douse of snow. I didn't get new snow boots. While the lining shifts in my Totes I just move it back when I put them on. My feet still are staying dry and toasty. I was really looking forward to the nature center hike and brewery event today. The shot of cortisone seems to be giving me relief and I haven't gotten together with these mom friends since late September. Well, I can still get outside in the park with pup. I'll mask up and avoid interactions. If the kids are out playing, especially since we got fresh snow, and they call me over to see their snow creations, I'll have to just tell them I have the plague.
Really even in the coldest days, I enjoy my walk. I like to go off the path so I have to really lift my legs up from the snow. I help clear a path for pup. He thinks he's a husky every winter- loves the snow. My long Columbia coat keeps me almost roasting. If you live in cold climates, investing in good outerwear is a must to avoid the dreaded cabin fever.
Because of meetings, it's been dark most days this week when we finally get in our walk. See what I mean about my husky? He's also apparently a snow tracking dog. He sniffs out every foot print made before us.
I'm not sure how much true working out I'll do this week. I'm hoping my seemingly just cold like symptoms stay that way so not going to push myself. Fresh air though has to be good and I'll still burn a few calories outside. Maybe I'll build my own snowman all by myself.
So sorry your weekend plans had to change but I'm glad to hear your symptoms are mainly cold like. That can be bad enough. Your pup is so cute. I've been wanting snow but it continues to miss us. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteDH had to shovel and will have a long day at work because if snow so he'd be happy to have it muss us.
DeleteSorry you've got it, but glad to hear you're on the mend SAM. I've been much better this week, minimal coughing and not so tired.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed today I've been tired- much more than usual and I slept well last night. In glad your feeling better.
DeleteI'm glad you're feeling better. All of our friends who've had Covid over the last fortnight (and all triple jabbed) say that the symptoms were no worse than a cold - hopefully you'll be the same. Lovely photo of the pupster! xxx
ReplyDeleteIsn't he cute. He's snoring next to me.
DeleteFingers crossed you've turned the corner & are feeling better. If you ever need a winter book recommendation (I use mine for ski trips), my favorite are from Columbia. They are not inexpensive, but I bought them through Rakuten, signed up for a Columbia account (gives you a small amount back as rewards) & they are currently on sale. (Not a referral link - just my own favorite) https://www.columbia.com/p/womens-ice-maiden-ii-boot-1554171.html?mid=em&eid=trans&nid=COL_US_ShipConf
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely look. I can get several years out if a pair so I want good boots that keep me warm.
DeleteSuch a cute puppy you have, Sam. I’m glad the cortisone shot is helping. I’ve gotten them in my knees before too and they do help. I hope you are feeling better every day.
ReplyDeleteNow, they want three good months of relief so we can push back replacement.
DeleteLifting your feet so high is a different kind of workout, so you will probably get more exercise on a shorter walk. Cortisone shots always make my knee feel new. I need another shot of cortisone!
ReplyDeleteProbably different but not more. I hope you get your relief. Why haven't you gone in for a shot?
DeleteI was going to when everything happened with my house. Then, covid! My surgeon is now about 120 miles from me in Huntsville. So, I probably need a new one here. I want Tommy to have injections in both his knees. Having a surgeon here will make him more likely to get a shot.
DeleteYes, Covid delayed me by 21 months. I hope you both get your needed pain relief.
DeleteI'm glad to hear the cortisone shot is helping. Should you be getting out there in the cold while you're still sick? Be sure to really bundle up well and try to get some rest too!
ReplyDeleteGuidance said light exercise is good to keep airways open. I'm definitely getting rest.
DeleteStay warm and I think a walk is a great idea as long as you are up to it.
ReplyDeleteNo marathons of course but enough to get body moving and fresh air in my lungs.
DeleteGlad you're doing better. Your pup looks so cute in the snow. Fluffy! I retired my snow boots in 2020 and thanks to all the shutdowns, did not need a new pair last year. I bought a pair of Skechers snow boots (Bobs Sparrow 2.0) and they are great for here but, I am not sure they would be warm enough where you are.
ReplyDeleteThe ones I have are warm enough for walks, commuting, but not break long hikes, though I add an extra pair of wool socks when I go to the rural parks and nature centers.
DeleteGood on you for getting out - I tend to think that fresh air is a good tonic. Certainly better than sitting stuck in the stale air of indoors.
ReplyDeleteWe had some lovely weather today and I got my workout shovelling more snow.
Take care, hope you're feeling 100% soon.
It was really nice yesterday, and no one was out but the dog and I.
DeleteGlad you are feeling well enough to get outside. I agree with you about the Columbia coats. I bought one last year and there are times it is almost too warm! Anything below 20 degrees, the coat is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI like that while it is a warm coat, it's not too bulky. I'll likely replace with same style eventually.
DeleteI know it feels much better to be outside rather than cooped up in the house. Hope you feel much better sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteMy heavy coat is a simple fleece number. I usually have to wear it a dozen times a year ___maybe. I don't think I have ever owned a heavy coat.
Especially working from home, getting outside everyday is essential. We kept my son's warm jacket here and he uses when he visits but has no need in California. The little he snowboards now he dresses differently than MN.
DeleteI'm going to google Columbia coats as I've never hear of them. I adore your dog, he looks like a teddy bear. What breed is he?
ReplyDeleteI thought they would be a well known brand. People here are Columbia or North Face people. I think Columbia is better value, but still not inexpensive. Funny you say that about pup because we do call him bear! He's a shitzu- poodle mix, shipooh. We think he has a bit if terrier in him as well. He's very strong for his size. He'll get a good shave by March and the starts growing again.
