Happy October and a Week of W's

I've got a brand new month to write about. October will be busy with birthdays, and kids coming home, and outdoor get togethers, and soaking up the fall colors. We've got a lot of day trips on the horizon, and possibly overnight stays. Minimally, a few days at the cabin will be a nice change. I should have been travelling for work this month-twice, but both are now virtual meetings. This month is the new deadline for getting our personal office space packed up if we are not returning to the office  at least three days. Well, no one is returning to this office really, so all will be packed up for a yet to be disclosed new location. I'll recap other things in m week in W's.

What's top of mind: I'm annoyed because  my week got a bit crazy and is pouring into Friday-and it's supposed to be my day off. (Just like two weeks ago.) A new issue popped up with our payments and again it's nothing my team did to create the issue, nothing we have the tools to fix, but all emails keep pointing at us.

Where I've been: I loved meeting up with my friends for a walk by the river and a drink after. We went at 6:30, so by 7:00 or so, the lights along the walking and bike path were slowly lighting up. It was as if they lit as we approached each one. We took credit for that. These ladies were going to be my empty nest lifeline. We never imagined we'd be each others Covid life line-always one of us available t meet up with another when we just needed that link to another person. Other than that and my Saturday wanderings, I've been home all week. I did have to pick up my winnings at the  art association form a silent auction.

Where I'm going: My older daughter and I are going to do a Trader Joe run, plus swing b the Indian grocery, and maybe look at Goodwill. I'm looking for something suitable to use as a slim book shelf for my office. I need large covered boxes, the office style or bankers boxes, but man are the expensive. I'll run midday for the Sloppy Joe  ingredients-sorry Kim, I'm talking about them but that is the last reference I promise. tomorrow is the party for my brother and then Sunday we will be on the road to see and hear our daughter sing at college.

What I'm reading: I just got my copy of Where the Crawdad's Sing for book club. I've been reading  a lot of education journal articles on equity issues in education exasperated by Covid preventative measures. The school year has gotten off to a rough start in a lot of communities.

What I'm listening to: After reminiscing about my friend who made me a Dar Williams mix, I've been streaming some good music from powerhouse females of days gone by. Billie Eilish has nothing on these ladies; I found this shorter clip from the concert I streamed one day. Ignore that the video and sound doesn't match up and just listen. I'll be getting my inner Joni Mitchell on as we move full on to fall. I'm not a country music fan, but give me a good written folk music or indie female performer and I'll listen all day.

What I've been watching: I finally watched the whole episode of the Great British Baking Show. I too do not have a favorite yet as a few of you commented. The young contestant, Freya, I believe, has a voice that reminds me of someone. If you watch and hear her talk, let me know who  you think I might be thinking of. I hope she stays a while, as she has already made a couple vegan bakes and I think, just like Peter in  season 8 who had a focus on gluten free baking, they bring options forward for folks who have different dietary preferences and needs.

What I'm eating: I cooked this week! Pork chops and baked potatoes, crock pot mock lasagna and Turkey burgers. DH didn't like how meaty a premade Bolognese was  because it didn't have enough sauce for him. I used 1/2 for the  mock lasagna, and the other half was used last night in jar spaghetti sauce DH made and it was a hit. I get the Bolognese at Kwik Trip of all places.

Who I'm paying attention to: Pup was sick yesterday-all over my office floor. Fortunately, most went on a rug. He's been funny about his eating for a couple days, so I'll be keeping an eye on him. Maybe he knows we will be in and out all weekend and gone Sunday. He'll have his other girls though.

Who needs to be (figuratively) slapped: Petty marital squabbles are not what this blog is about-and I don't care how great a marriage is, there are petty marital squabbles. The other day DH annoyed me by going over all the details as to what got done on my car on Tuesday. I was reading something on line when he started talking, but I paused and listened. When he got done, apparently I hadn't made the right appreciative sounds because his response was, "Am I boring you?" That irritated me to no end. We have a fairly equal distribution of things that need taken care of, cars fall in his lane. I don't give him a play by play list of everything I accomplish on our mutual behalf, and then wait for praise. All he did was drive the car to his workshop, pay the bill, and drive it home anyway. It wasn't like he actually made the repairs himself. Yeah, I think he deserved a slap for expecting me to ooh and ahh over getting the car shaped up.

It made me think about all the "that's so sweet" comments when I shared that he made Philly Cheese steaks for dinner. A sister said the same thing. No one is praising me for the other 6 nights I'm making dinner. To preserve his vulnerable man ego, I made sure to thank him for mowing the lawn yesterday morning, and to tell him last night (he was the spaghetti maker/sauce heater upper) that the spaghetti was good. I told him this as I was putting away towels and laundry  that I had washed, dried, and folded.  Rant done.

What's Making Me Smile:  My friend G brought her daughters sneak peak of senior pictures to show us on her phone, taken by another friend. This friend also took  my youngest's photos. She does such a great job and I am very happy for her launching a full time business.

Another thing that made me smile was a something my youngest said about how she is feeling so old. I forget where she was-Dairy Queen perhaps, and there were a bunch of highschool girls there. One had a jacket or shirt, or something that said  2025, for their graduation year. Well, I said, that would be the year freshmen would graduate." I know mom, but I'm 2023-college 2023!" She got a taste of how fast the years fly.

Friday and a busy weekend ahead. We're all pretty sure our brother is none the wiser on the birthday festivities' planned for tomorrow. Several of the sibs and their spouses are meeting for a fish dinner, but since I made my plans with my daughter, we will pass. Maybe I'll send DH and I won't have to think about his dinner!  There's leftovers for him too, or stuff for soup and grilled cheese, so either way, I am not thinking supper prep. What's the W's in your life this week?

The Week is Almost Done in W's

Well that sure was a week. It's a good thing I "get by with a little help from my friends." If I don't say it enough, please know I really appreciate the comments, virtual hugs, and sharing by all of you via the comments. Once again we have reached Friday. I've been capturing all the little things that surround my life in questions each week and invite you to play along.

What's top of mind: Ugh-another ball got dropped back in June that is biting me in the work butt this morning. It's resolvable, but I just spent an extra two and 1/2 hours, from 7:30 until 10:00 resolving, or at least getting work around fix in place until it is fully resolved. The whole project has been a project from hell-someone's pet project, created on the fly, had to be executed in an incredibly short time period, and is not getting the intended results (which I could have said from the beginning it was not going to do due to the timing.) The funding my team received to carry it our has been helpful as my other budgets were tight, but then yesterday, a finance person was ready to grab the funds and divert them elsewhere. Umm-no! We need them to cover our costs, thank you very much.

The other thing weighing on my mind is also work-yet another leadership change as my boss is going back to her old job, and I have concerns as to who might be stepping into her role. Neither I or my colleague that took the duties for year prior do not want it, so I guess we get what we ask for. I do well with change, but not with change, and change again, and then yet more change, while in the middle of uncertainty.

Where I've been: I went to Trivia, and had fun even though I was not in happy spirits. It was a mellow night and one of my friends brought along someone who used to come to trivia nights when we first started playing a few years ago. It was nice to see her and get caught up on her life. I've already shared about Veg Fest, and Monday's movie. Other than those outings I've mostly just been on walks in the neighborhood.

Where I'm going: Some light grocery shopping. Even with DH's rogue shopping, I think I can meet my challenge. I want the control. I won't meet the H&B/Household  goal, but stayed on budget. I have a stack of coupons that would make Sluggy proud to use on assorted toiletries and they expire  tomorrow so I want to use them. Tomorrow is supposed to be quintessential fall-65 degrees and sunny. I'm planning to go to my nephews morning football game, and maybe I can talk DH into dinner outside, or a walk along the river, or maybe even to one of the regional or county parks.

What I'm reading: Nothing really other than the Sunday paper and a magazine. But, we have selected a book for the October 16th book club meeting, I think it's Where the Crawdad's Sing by Delia Owens. A few have read, but I have not, and those that have didn't mind revisiting.

What I'm listening to: After my daughter and I saw the movie on Tuesday, I've steamed some clips from some other musicals made into films as mood lifters.

What I've been watching: We had football on over the weekend of course. I watched a couple travel vlogs-just to get in the mood. Surprisingly, I find some of them calming, and a nod to normalcy.

What I'm eating: See below to what makes me smile this week-DH made supper. Other wise, I made comfort food-my favorite hot dish, chicken rice, broccoli and cheese, and a lot of leftovers and bits of stuff from the freezer. I have not had cooking mojo working for me this week.

Who I'm paying attention to: My son is a amateur stock market follower, light investor, but pretty savvy about these things. If he had some real money to invest, look out! He also is follows the market in relation to politics in the world. He sent me several texts and email links yesterday morning/or late his time Wednesday night. He has me paying attention to the Chinese real estate market and the potential collapse that looks a lot like 2008.

What I'm planning: Still thinking of fall get aways. I loved reading about Vix packing and getting ready for Greece. While no foreign travel is in my future, a weekend up on the North Shore or possibly tagging along with my daughters on a NYC trip might be in the cards. Somehow reading Vix post, while of course a bit of envy, I actually felt encouraged and hopeful that I too will be able to resume visiting some of the places I've dreamed about.

Who needs to be (figuratively) slapped: Well, in a mood like I have been, the better question might be who does not need to be slapped! Actually, no one has done anything egregious or head shaking directly. I will though give a figurative slap to thems on the road that tail gate on highways, and zip in and out of traffic, causing stress for the rest of us sharing the road with them. My daughter drive home Sunday and we experienced a few ass hats doing this, even though it wasn't even that busy and no one was impeding the flow of traffic.

What's Making Me Smile: Grocery challenge be damned (though I still might make it) DH wanted to cook supper last night and bought assorted ingredients, but wouldn't tell me what he was making. Later, he made probably his most favorite meal, Philly cheese steak sandwiches. He did well-the steak was nice and tender. I'm not a big steak eater, but as he was very proud of his achievement and I didn't have to think about making anything, those together made the sandwich especially delicious. Never mind that he didn't really get all the skin off the onions, lol.

Knowing it is Friday and I have two and 1/2 days to claim, if I knock off work mid-day is a good feeling. I've time to relax and time to work on things in the house that with little ticks next to a list of "to do's" I hope to feel a little less chaos. I've made a decision that I will do a good enough for now bathroom update-paint the vanity and mirror, and perhaps invest in a tall and narrow cupboard with doors. It's time for new shower curtains and a rug. I haven't even done a  spiff up since before my daughters confirmation in 2016. I'll add that to my list of want to accomplish, though a full overhaul stays on the list as well. I'll hit publish and get back to work. What are W's of your week?

What's Up? My World in W's

Once again we have reached Friday. I've been capturing all the little things that surround my life in questions for about a year now. I'm excited, all fun intended as I would not actually do it, Who needs to be slapped? This is thanks to the irreverent Spo. Stay tuned to read this one which I think may be a regular addition and I will feel so much better.

What's top of mind: My head is very full right now with work and family stuff-good stuff, but a lot of things. Two work issues are giving me heartburn, both caused by action or inaction by someone else, both  issues I cannot solve-have no means to solve, but both impact my program area and are keeping us in limbo until those that can fix them, do. See "slap" below!

Where I've been: Besides out for dinner Saturday and the lake, I've been walking. Pup, my daughter and I went walking on a different path that takes us between a lake made with Mississippi runoff and a stretch of the river that creates a sort of bay looking feature. The walking and bike path goes between the two natural features. I tried to take a panoramic picture that sort of captures this.

Where I'm going:  My daughter is doing a mud run tomorrow and I'm going to be her driver so she doesn't need to worry about phone and keys. Apparently there is a festival like atmosphere with food trucks and stalls, and will provide some good people watching. If I can, I will be sure to share all the muddy fun.

What I'm reading: I've been reading a couple different books/journals on cohesion in early childhood programming. If more federal funds come to our field, we will be charged with ensuring an appropriate mixed delivery system that provides a wide range of choice and program options to meet individual child needs. Early childhood is not a system-but a very fragmented ecosystem of different programs, teaching credentials, funding, and access-at least in the United States. I'm trying to get out of my day to day work head and give my strategic brain more food.

What I'm listening to: At the lake on the pontoon, there was an odd station found that had all "love songs" from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. It was that bad!  What was good, was DH had free Sirus radio for the weekend and we found a classic rock station on the way up to the lake.

What I've been watching: I'm doing research, better known as watching YouTube, on various challenges for the month of September. .When I do the Dollar Tree $5 challenge, I am going to try and avoid what seems to be the go to, frozen peppers and onions. Interesting, and I'll see if these pop up in the coming months, is all the Dollar Tree  make a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner for under $20. I watched a couple, and wow, I would need to drink a gallon of water to  filter through the amount of salt these dinner would have. This may be a one and done challenge.

What I'm eating:  My clean out the fridge chili turned out pretty darn good last night. I sent the remains, a good bowls worth, home with my daughter as she has an evening shoot and this would give her a hearty dinner. We had been out of eggs for over a week and I finally picked some up last weekend. I enjoyed making just a basic over easy egg on toast for lunch  one day this week when I gave myself a break from leftovers. For afternoon snacking, I've been devouring cucumbers and hummus.

Who I'm paying attention to: I have a new staff starting on Wednesday and I am battling getting the needed paperwork done to get her set up with computer an din the system. I see on a master list  people hired after her that are already marked complete. If not resolved by end of today, I will go into my weekend thinking about it as well.

What I'm planning:  Now that we are really into September, I suppose we better narrow down our vacation plans if we want to go other than the cabin.

Who needs to be (figuratively) slapped: I fear this could take over if I let it. Using Spo's vernacular, those or them's, I'll just add for this week, those that made a significant work blunder, know it, and still try to gaslight in public to another  person/program. It is really hard to undue or correct errors when the origin is unknown, so just fess up, and lets get it fixed!

What's Making Me Smile: DD2 snapped this picture last night on our walk.  Double reason to smile.

My gosh has the week been gorgeous here, but I know it is not in other places. I'm so sorry for you all dealing with too much rain, too much wind, still battling haze from fires or worse, the fires themselves, and excessive heat. What are the W's in your world right now?

Last August Friday W's

I had a back to work but very non-normal, in the dare I say it, new normal world I live in now. I've had something every night this week, from meet-up to an online meditation class. I met new neighbors that move din this month across the street, a young couple, np kids. I'm back to a quiet hours later afternoons and early evenings with my daughter back at school, as well as during the day, but I haven't been around much to take them in. As August ends and we transition to September, the start of fall as soon as Labor Day is done despite what the calendar says, I'll start my recap there.

What's top of mind: The start of the school year is on my brain for work, community, and personal connections. Next week will be packed as most districts start school on September 7th in Minnesota. I've seen pictures of family in other states posting first day pictures already. Our towns school board met Wednesday night and all hell broke loose on Facebook with the decision that masks would be required through 8th grade. Of course, had the decisions been reverse, it would have exploded as well-probably more so as I think there might be more leaning towards masks than not. In my home, DD2 did safely load her car and we did not need to make the trek four hours each way. She Facetimed me Tuesday night and gave me the tour. She started classes yesterday and  messaged that she really liked them so far. She of course is pretty much all in her two major and minor classes having all her generals out of the way.

Where I've been: Call me Sam the wanderer this week. Monday night was a meet-up with the  Mom's of Teens group, Wednesday was trivia, and last night I met with the soup mom's, my friend bunch that came out of our daughters first being friends. J couldn't make it because they had two positive Covid tests on Thursday-both her daughter, my DD2's bestie, and her husband had both heavy  cold symptoms, but also taste and smell issues. He was not vaccinated, but the daughter was.

Where I'm going:  I'm staying put today and tomorrow! Maybe I'll walk or bike to the store for a few fresh groceries, but I want to tackle the extra bedroom that became a dumping ground for DD2's stuff. Stuff, and yet more stuff, is the theme in my house isn't it? If the weather is nice, we'll go to the lake for the day on Sunday. With all the rain, DH will want to  turn the bilge pump on on the boat and let it dry out a bit. We need to burn up some gas before we store it this fall.

We have a family birthday on Tuesday night for my twin niece and nephew and their older brother-his actual 18th birthday. These are the twins that I ordered the hoodie sweatshirts and  t-shirts for. They came this week and the one for my nephew looks huge-I can wear it, but I did order in the size mom suggested. I never worry about something like a sweatshirt being too big-especially for an 11 year old boy, No doubt he will grow inches each month. He passed DD2 in height this summer. His next oldest brother at 14 is already over 6 feet tall, the oldest is probably close to being done and I think is about 6  foot 1 or so. Basically, this rambling is to say, I'm pleased with the clothing items and think they will get good wear by the kids. The teen will get cash-and movie theater size candy.

What I'm reading:  I got my first issue of the Real Simple subscription I opted back into. It came with two supplementary  issue-101 Container Ideas, and Our Best Storage Solutions.  have not opened them yet, but this will be my reading tonight and tomorrow night.

What I'm listening to: While I'm back to work, my boss and so many others are on vacation this week, so I've had a lot of  solid work time free on my calendar. I like to stream BBC World News or MN Public Radio and have been able to do this. All week.

What I've been watching: I've watched a few more episodes of Criminal Minds-I need to stop, but it is gruesomely addicting. Maybe it makes me feel like if I know the  threats, I can better avoid them. Naivety at its best. With staying home tomorrow night, I thought DH and I should look for something to watch and have a movie night. Recommendations requested.

What I'm eating:  Too much! Last night with the mom's I had a ridiculously delicious crispy chicken club sandwich and perfect French fries. Today, I will eat a lot of fruit and steamed vegetables-balance right? Tuesday I cooked up some Trader Joe's three Cheese tortellini in a creamy cheese sauce. It was pretty darn tasty and there were leftovers for my lunch on Wednesday. I still have not bought corn on the cob and the season will be gone soon. Maybe I will drive to pick some up. My daughter is working out of state this week, and passed a free produce stand, someone's surplus garden produce, and was going to make a huge salad with her find. I had envy.

Who I'm paying attention to: I'm paying attention to the next actions of the president and the military in Afghanistan. It truly is a no win situation. I am a bit sick of the ageism of Biden. He's only a few years older than Trump, and despite a speech impediment is much more articulate than we had for four years.  Even with this crisis, he at least is calm and isn't adding fuel to the fire. It is a sad cluster*&^%$, though, and feels quite without a sorrowful end.

Then, there is the FDA approval of the Pfizer vaccine. I'm following to see if there is an uptick again in people choosing to be vaccinated because of this. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I do wish  laymen would stop saying, "I've done my research" as their reason why they won't get vaccinated. No, they found articles, and videos, to confirm their own bias. I am guilty of it too-we all are, But I tend to still trust that  organizations like the  American Pediatric Association and the American Medical Association who are advocating for vaccinations and mask wearing, and direct care nursing staff who have nothing to gain by promoting false preventative measures, and everything to gain with getting more people protected and not ending up in the hospital. I guess there will be those that argue that there is some other motive.

What I'm planning:  More cleaning and purging this weekend as mentioned before. We also are planning a retirement/71st birthday party (missed his 70th as he was in Florida and not traveling) for my brother this fall. It will be an outdoor  potluck/BBQ at a big park. I also have to get the next family park cleanup planned.

What's Making Me Smile: Monday night, one of my favorite Mom's group members, had multiple entertaining stories to share to get us all caught up on her life. Like me, she is one of the older mom's, but still has a junior in high school. She is the second wife of her husband who had  young teens when they got married, so she also has grandchildren already. She teaches 6-8 work out classes a week at the YMCA and  looks like she is at least 15 years younger than she is. When she tells stories, it is arms, body and legs as part of the tale. She kept so many of us active during stay at home with zoom work out sessions. She is an example of good people!

We had rain last night and may get more off and on today. I welcome that! It's not soup weather, but I am thinking about using my crock pot for something. What are you all having for inner tonight-I have no clue, but will rummage in the freezer later this afternoon. That's about all I got this week. If you'd like to play along, please do!

The Friday Recap in W's

It's already Friday and my last day of vacation. I don't go back to work until Monday, but I'd have the weekend off anyway. I had some lazy days this week and some productive days. DD2 is pretty much ready to get back to school and we'll move back into our empty nest lifestyle. Here's the W's of my life for this week.

What's top of mind: Having a safe school year and hoping FDA approves the vaccines soon so there is no more authentic reasons why people  feel it is not safe. DD2's college requires either vaccination or weekly testing, and the professors can decide if masks are required in their classrooms. Wait- she got an email that because they did not reach 85% vaccinated, masks will be required inside all buildings. She's fully stocked with masks again. I am happy that work decided to no longer have a state fair booth, so I am off the hook working it. While I would have been fully masked up, I just feel better not mixing in large crowds that I have no way to separate. I still have some relatives choosing not to vaccinate, and while it is their choice, and they are accepting the risk, I still do not want them ill. Some have kids under 12 with no choice and I don't want to be the spreader.

Besides Covid and the school year, we have an ongoing debate as to whether our daughter will be able to safely fit all in her small car or if we will be taking the  8 hour round trip. She pretty much just has her bedding, clothes, and a couple bins of miscellaneous so it shouldn't' be a problem. DH is just worried about overly weighing down her small car. I want her to have to make choices and lean down what won't fit in two bins.

Where I've been: Over the weekend of course, to the lake. Last night my daughters and I did a thrifting challenge. I will have a whole post coming up. Let's say we made a haul and details to come. The rules were loose, but all of us were successful. l ran errands with my daughter to help with odds and ends to pack up. I'm a big spender and got her new socks and underwear, but in honesty, they were more than her thrift haul.

Where I'm going:  I'm very excited to go to the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit tomorrow. Fingers crossed that I'll get some good pictures and that too will be a future post. I'm happy that they still have all Covid protocols in place-one direction, social distance lines and masks required. My Mom's of Teens and Tweens (as I was not kicked out when my daughter turned 20) is having an outdoor meet-up on Monday. I haven't seen most of these women in a long time, except for those either on zoom, or the one in person book club meet up. We're an eclectic group, varying ages, and I am on the older end, but they still invite me! .

What I'm reading:  I finished The Day Before Winter , the last of the Bennett's Island books by Elizabeth Ogilvie. Book club is starting up again. This book club is a off shoot of the Mom's of Teens and Tweens group. I don't know what book was selected, but I'll get it read as soon as I know it-and the date we pick to  meet up.

What I'm listening to: Not really anything unless it is Ann's from Cooking and All that Jazz, lovely musical links.

What I've been watching: I watched a Diane Keaton and Brendon Gleason movie, well, mostly nodded off during in, called Hampstead. A man lives off the gird in Hampstead Heath park in/outside of?? London, and she and he become friends and develop a relationship. That's the gist.  I tend to have the Today Show and Hoda and Jenna on in the back ground on mornings when I'm doing  stuff around the house. That has continued this week.

What I'm eating:  Wednesday I made curry for DD2 and I, and froze a good portion for her to take back for her Sunday meal. She had requested chow mein as well, the canned version. I don't eat that and will let her have all the fun, probably for tonight's supper.  I need to cleanse from all the heavy food the last few weeks.

Who I'm paying attention to: I'm not an ostrich so can't help having what is going on in Afghanistan on my mind. I'm not going to turn this into a political post, but this might be one area that I wish the former person in the White House, who started the  troop pull out, could get in line with the current  president implementing it, and realize both had the same intent, and not start scape goating each other. I worry about the humanitarian impact on those residents left behind, but agree it was a no win situation that after 20 years, was not getting any better with a US presence.

What I'm planning:  Nothing really! I'll get the college kid on the road, enjoy the weekend with my girls, and back to regular work next week. DD1 was going to be on a long road trip but her  travel partner decided she couldn't afford the time off work and now they are planning something more on a weekend. This leaves my daughter with time off the same week DD2 is home on fall break. It's possible the three of us could get a short trip away, but you all know my uneasiness on flying with Covid still running amuck. I haven't progressed on DH and my plans either.

What's Making Me Smile: I thought I had let my flower pots dry out, but they sprung back with a couple good morning watering's. We need color around here! Another thing making me smile is a maple tree that has spring up on the side of our yard. It is not in a great place, but DH and I are going to see if we can get it dug up and moved to the front yard. Maybe those stupid squirrels do serve some purpose other than annoying pup.

We are back to needing rain-desperately needing rain. The wild fires in north eastern Minnesota are too close for comfort and the smoky haze lingers. This summer just has felt like a downer and I hope fall gives us many days of needed rains followed by days of calm to be able to really get outside and enjoy.  As I close each week, I invite you to play along! What's going on in your life this week?

The Weekly Friday Wrap Up

Make your own at wordart.com

Another week and another check in on the highs, lows, and random bits of  life. I played with a word cloud from WordArt.com. I know it can be a bit cringe, but thought it might personalize these weekly posts.  Here's the W's of my life for this week.

What's top of mind: R&R and getting things done. While I've checked in at work, I haven't  gotten sucked into  my emails which would have been easy to do. After the weekend, top of mind is spending the rest of the week with my girl before she goes back to school.

Where I've been: We've had a few days at the lake and will be there later this morning through the weekend. Life stuff taken care of was replacing my  ancient phone, getting DH a basic lap top (with some gift cards he's had for years from a promo), getting him shoes, out to eat several times, and to a movie with the girls for DH's birthday.

Where I'm going: Next weekend, DD1 and I are going to the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit. I'm very excited and they have been promoting it as Covid safe. On the not excited front, I will need to work a shift at the state fair in late August. I will be masked entering, at the booth, and when I leave. I likely will not even be eating any tasty treats as I'll be happy to get back home. I hope it all goes well, but that's a whole lot of people with the Delta variant to be spread-and apparently quickly through unvaccinated folks.

What I'm reading:  I finished The Day Before Winter by Elizabeth Ogilvie and have jumped into The Summer House. by Jude Deveraux. It's an interesting read of what could have been an dhow choices made early in life can deeply impact life in the future. It's also a fun read to learn what might have we done different and would we change if we had that chance.

What I'm listening to: Nothing but the news or local radio in the car or in the back ground while doing other things. I will test out my new phone to see if with the added memory, I'll have better luck streaming pod casts.

What I've been watching: I've been watching some organization videos and trying to keep myself motivated. I've also watched a few meal prep challenges. I'm not sure if these would translate as well into blog posts, but I am noodling around different kinds of content, perhaps with a little video thrown in. I'd love to test my skills at seeing how many things I could make from one 5 pound bag of flour, or healthy meals with nothing but a fiver at Dollar Tree. I know-crazy stuff! See first posts-organizing my kitchen again to make it video worth is a must before that happens. DD2 started me watching a few episodes of Supernatural. It's interesting-sort of  Stranger Things, mixed with Criminal Minds, mixed with X-Files.

What I'm eating:  Too much! Not really, but after a week celebrating birthdays, I'll need to focus on getting those five a day back into my diet. I can report that the  Slow cooker pepper and tomato soup was really tasty, but I might have gotten a tad carried away with the black pepper. I've been craving  basic  pepperoni pizza all week and we indulged last night. Swimming burns roughly 600 calories an hour at a slow swim for my size. I'll just live in the lake for 1/2 a day and call it good.

Who I'm paying attention to: I'm not paying attention really, but  had moment of "egads' about  the  pillow man's whole cyber conference where he was going to  indisputably prove election fraud and China stealing Trump votes and giving them to Biden. Turns out, his own Cyber experts said he has nothing. It's jibberish smoke and mirrors. The whole thing was an attempt for the pillow man to try and stay relevant. He can stay relevant when he loses his  $1.3 billion dominion lawsuit.

What I'm planning:  Besides planning next week to get DD2 packed up again for school, I'm ready to host friends this weekend at the lake. The menu for Saturday will be a fruit, cheese, meat, olive appetizer with some bread and crackers, followed by grilled steak, a garden salad, and grilled veggies and potatoes. We'll have snacky things and lots of beverages for the boat.  We'll grill enough of all to have some sandwiches later for dinner. They decided they can't stay overnight as they have two dogs that are high stress so they seldom leave them, even with their own kids.

What's Making Me Smile: Pup just loves running around at the lake. He's not a big swimmer dog, but he will go in and wander. Seeing him jump when a sunny gets too close is funny, but then he just accepts them as art of the lake. I took the opportunity to give him a good both and he was tolerant if annoyed. After, he dried off, he sort of pranced around feeling both cooler and I'm sure, a little less itchy since  I likely got rid of little things that come with pets. He goes in on Monday for shots and a shave, so he ill be mad at me again for a few days.

No more rain since getting the morning soaker last Saturday and already things are turning brown again. My memories on various social media pointed out that this was the day three years ago we landed in Paris. I really do have the itch to change my surrounding's for a bit. Even though these two weeks were self proclaimed to be just R&R and home productivity, I really wish I was heading somewhere on a plane to experience life different from the normal. While I don't think things are all doom and gloom, I'm just not ready to take the risk of getting sick far away from home, or  jumping through hoops to be allowed to land in another place. I figure with Canada still closed to us  Americans, it seems silly to me to push travel elsewhere. And don't even get me started on my shyness towards cruise ships for quite a while, domestic travel only or not. I guess I'll just keep trying to make the most of what's left of summer and look forward to the leisure days of for fall weekends. What's going on in your life this week?

What's Up? the Friday W's

W W W

Since last week, Blogger fixed my Reader List issue, so that is a good thing. Remember Martha Stewart used to have that as a tagline, "A Good Thing". I remember the Saturday Night Live skits about her shows that wasn't particularly funny, but in my head whenever I type "good thing" I think of those silly skit.

Here's the W's of my life for this week.

What's top of mind: Well, work reinstated the mask mandate inside the building. I wasn't surprised. That made more folk want to reduce office days even more than they had planned. We have rumor's of two possible locations hat we are moving to in January. No one shared the source or validity, but see reasonable, and  both OK options for me. I think the commute wouldn't be much different, perhaps a tad shorter. The buildings are both nice and parking would till be free. What's really on my mind though is having two weeks off work!

Where I've been:  Meals out, trivia, and walks with pup have been part of my goings this week. Our park had a police car, ambulance, and fire engine for National Night Out. Pup stole some of the thunder and the little kids wanted to pet the fully guy-who will be less than fluffy in a week.

Where I'm going: I was going to head to the office to pack up my personal stuff, and relocate files to a central area. DD2 suggested we do her last week and she can help, plus we can get our "city" errands run. Smart kid. We're going to the lake Sunday for birthdays, coming home, but then will be back up there for several days and have friends coming a tthe end of the week. Will I go grocery shopping? Probably at some point.

What I'm reading:  I started The Day Before Winter since it resurfaced without purging. It's the last of the Bennett's ISland books by Elizabeth Ogilvie.

What I'm listening to: I tended to have Olympic news on in the background when not in meetings. It has been fun, but I'm ready to move on after the weekend. Winter games are scheduled for February. Does anyone know if they are still a go yet?

What I've been watching: I'm still watching a lot of the Olympic Games, and this week, Track and field and volleyball is  coming to a close. I swa Ashes to Ashes, the follow-up series to Life on Mars is on Brit Box. I don't remember if I saw it before or not. That might be on my weekend schedule, depending on weather.

What I'm eating:   I'm still eating down what we have on hand. I've made several of the meal plan items-stuffed shells, goulash, abd  taco night. tonight maybe just ald and a take and bake pizza though. We used the fruit DD2 brought home on some smoothies and snacking, but learned kiwi does not make a good smoothie-or at least not to our taste.

Who I'm paying attention to: I'm following Florida and the political verbal spewing by their governor who will not take any responsibility for the surge in hospitalizations when his demands are so anti CDC guidelines. I'm sorry Florida, but you all know what you can do next year! I will never understand anyone using the the pandemic as a political hill to die on. Don't we want everyone healthy and safe? How can you ignore people dying in hospitals 18 months after all we have all experienced.

What I'm planning:  I'm planning to bake the Nothing Bundt copycat and a blueberry pie tomorrow. I hope both turn out well for the birthday celebrants. I'm also planning to get ready to paint, and use items already in my house. I know you are all sick of this topic, but I am so excited to make this a reality.

What's Making Me Smile: The thought of time off work and knowing there should not be anything so urgent these two weeks to disrupt my time. I had check-ins with all my direct reports and my boss and peers and things should be covered. I will say that again-things are covered.

We finally got a bit of rain! Not the soaking rain we really need, but something to clear the air. There were a many thunderstorms, so hoping that didn't also spark any  fires from lightning anywhere. I guess that storm system is going to pop up and around the next two days as well. I won't mind more rain at all over the weekend. Play along! What's going on in your life this week?

Picture to break up the boredom of this text heavy post!

The Friday Wrap Up

We get five Fridays this July so this will not wrap up my Friday posts for the month. Each Friday,  I try and capture the comings and goings, ups and downs, and general  ways and means of my life through my Friday W's Here's the W's of my life for this week.

What's top of mind: With the APA coming out with their recommendations that schools resume in person, but with mask wearing, I am leaning into to see what will be determined in Minnesota. Do any of you have different school schedules and are going now?  I thought I saw another blogger mention that school starts next week or maybe that was the following week, in August, in the UK. If you know schools are resuming where you live in person, let me know what the decision is around masks. With children under 12 not being able to be vaccinated and the Delta variant, I sure hope precaution over optics is chosen.

Where I've been: I had a banner weekend with happy hour and games and cards at my sister on Saturday. The in person meeting was cancelled, so did not head into the cities. I've been to Trivia and the grocery store. I'm about to go treat myself to a take out coffee. That will be my fuel to power on in the  office.

Where I'm going: I've got a graduation party for a great niece tomorrow. My sisters and I are bringing dessert bars-mine will be chocolate chip blondies, and are taking sifts helping to keep foods stocked. This is my sister that passed away in 2013's oldest granddaughter. She would have loved to celebrate! The graduate just had her 18th birthday last week. She is still not sure of her plans this fall, but is thinking she may go to a local technical college-perhaps not until spring semester, and save a bit of money until then. With the odd state of the world, slowing down jumping into a new school seems like a good idea if not completely sure of the path.

What I'm reading:  I read nothing but the newspaper and some on-line articles this week. Vacation is coming and I'll get myself some new reads.Interesting story. Last ight my daughter got a package and inside was a book sent from a Minneapolis book store. There was no note, receipt  or anything. She had  been Googling the book, and mentioned it/talked about it with a coworker, and then it just showed up. She thinks maybe the coworker, a younger  regular staff whom she has developed a good rapport, might have sent it as a gift, but didn't say anything. It was a bit odd, but she'll find out today hopefully if that is the source.

What I'm listening to: Again, not much of anything this week. I've been meeting swamped so little time to stream radio in the background. We heard a bit of the live music this weekend, but passed on most of the town festival weekend.

What I've been watching: Wow-another, not really sure category. We've had a few Criminal Minds episodes on, and of course some of the YouTube channels I watch. I have no recommendations for anyone. Oh, the Olympic Opening Ceremony is on right now while I type this post.

What I'm eating:  Wednesday, my whole post was on what I've been eating-lots of meals based on free produce!

Who I'm paying attention to: I guess my kids and DH for different reason. DH seems so tired all the time, but yesterday he had a day off and seemed in a good mood, and puttered in the yard before it got hot. He really needs time off work so August 8th can't come soon enough. All the kids are doing well, but each have their own  restlessness if that make sense. My older daughter in particular as she is underutilized for the things she thought she was hired to do. Contrasted with my son, who finally is getting the opportunities he  paid his earlier career dues to be positioned for. Then the youngest, who has an idea of what she wants to do after college, but as for what career, does not want to have an office job. She likes her job this summer, but has picked up from the staff that are there as their career, that working for a non-profit service organization  is filled with a lot of stress for low pay. Well, her mother could have told her that, but I guess you need to experience it directly.

What I'm planning: I'm starting to plan the first week of mybAugust vacation time, the week DH is also off. We will spend the bulk of the week at the cabin. We don't have a definite schedule with the friends, but looking forward to days of boating, corn hole, swimming, and doing nothing but lounging on the lake. As for a fall get away, I've soured on the drive south so trying to look at other routes. We've wanted to go to Door County for a long time and this might be the right year.

What's Making Me Smile: Thinking of my sister who had the birthday last weekend and how happy she was to get together with all of us makes me smile. All nine of us siblings were at my sisters for games and cards. Her birthday is just nine days after what would have been her wedding anniversary. This is the sister that lost her husband unexpectedly last March.

I really have a pretty good life. It is not exciting, or full of travel and  glamorous events, but it's not filled with chaos and drama right now either and I'll take that. While glam will never be part of  my life, travel will come back. Until then, I'll keep looking to learn through blogs and vlogs about life in other places. How did you week go?

Vaccines, and Food, and Celebrations...The Friday Wrap-Up

     W W W

Each Friday, and I'm trying to be consistent again, I try capture the comings and goings, ups and downs, and general  ways and means of my life through my Friday W's Here's the W's of my life for this week.

What's top of mind: Our community had a tragic event this week, and one of my children knew the victim from school. I'll say the cliched, "we don't have these things happen here"  but tragedy and violence happens everywhere doesn't it? It's certain to not be random violence, so I don't have heightened worry, just sadness for the family and friends.

Where I've been: I feel like a broken record but I went blueberry picking and out for lunch, played trivia, and we went to the cabin. More outings included a brief 45 minutes running a couple errands, a movie in a theater on Tuesday, and Trivia Wednesday night. My daytime goings have been to the park or walking paths with pup this week. I've got an itch for travel, but in day to day outings, a simple errand seems to scratch the itch to get away. Maybe since I can work outside for an hour here and there I am feeling less shut in, or just the fact knowing  I have more flexibility with less (not no) risk is helping me feel more mobile.

Where I'm going: Likely to hear some music this weekend somewhere and a small grocery shop. As it didn't work last week for my sister for lunch or happy hour, this might be an option tomorrow and rumor has it she is interested in Bingo. I'll keep you posted on what happens. Next Tuesday, I have a work meeting, in person! We are doing it at an outdoor park/pavilion rather than in the office which is still  being organized for return to the office.

What I'm reading:  I brought a book along on Sunday, but read about three pages as it was nice to relax without nothing in my head.

What I'm listening to: I've been streaming some different movie sound tracks to pep me up as I mine data for  end of year report. I've had the Greatest Showman sound track streaming, and several Disney themes. If I have to have my head down looking at spread sheets, I can at least get my toes tapping.

What I've been watching: DD2 brought home a Spider Man, the newest franchise, and we watched it last night. As I said, we went to the movie on Tuesday and saw Black Widow, which was enjoyable.

What I'm eating:  Produce! Well I made roasted red potatoes last night from DD2's  supply along with turkey bacon BLT sandwiches. Of course, blueberry muffins!  I made the spinach. (from a previous  take home from daughter) artichoke pasta, with the leftover chicken from our lake lunch-it really has turned into a favorite of mine, but a bit rich so  needs to be an occasional  meal. We had a taco night too this week. I need to check freezer space, but  I'd like to make a big batch of potato cheese soup since I have so many (plus carrots) but with another heat wave expected, I don't think it would be enjoyable as a meal. DH had bought a tub of Reeser's potato salad, mustard variety. Normally we like it, but this batch was not good. IT might be that the mustard was too a heavy as it tastes strong and vinegary. We won't waste it though, so are putting copious amounts of pepper on it to use it up. It makes me miss my daughter's-who makes an excellent potato salad that no one would even know was vegan.

Who I'm paying attention to: In Treader's post, she shared that the French President Macron was pushing for an executive order that to basically go to any public  venue, residents would need a pass to show they are vaccinated or have had a negative test within a short period of time (which costs 50 euros.) I've made no  secret I am pro Covid Vaccine, but I also don't believe anyone should be required to, as much as I believe it was the right decision for me. I also think, like all things, freedom of personal choice does not mean freedom from repercussions to choices. This is why  I have mixed  reaction to her post and know the frustration expressed is shared by thousands if not millions. She shared that  the French have worn masks when required without the  huge back lash as in parts of the US, so that along with social distancing, seems like reasonable alternatives to  those that can't or decide no to vaccines or can't afford the time or money for regular tests.

I know though, business want to get back to  full capacity so the social distancing can't work for them forever.  I just don't know anymore what will truly get the world back to semi normal. I am following what happens in France, world  data on  vaccine rates, infection rates, and hospitalizations-as well as what is learned over time on the impacts of vaccines. I personally trust that the vaccines are protecting with little to no risk, but I can't make that determination for someone else. I can still though be concerned for them, and anyone that could be at risk. Let's all be advocates for not attacking each other.

What I'm planning: What's going on this week? Well, we need to make our plans more firm for vacation in August. I'm looking again at dates for a possible road trip late fall along the Mississippi (though driving through Tennessee and their super low  vaccination  rates, and the low rates in other states south of Minnesota has me worried a bit)-see points above. Of course I'd love to globe trot, but that won't be happening so I'm posting this squishy stress ball in solidarity of a future with global travel.

What's Making Me Smile: An old school mate is swinging by to pick up food my daughter brought home. This man was one of the nicest "kids" I remember. We weren't really friends, but friendly, him having gone to the private catholic school until 9th grade so didn't know each other at all until then. He said he cooks and delivers food for several elderly relatives and the extra produce would be great . He now runs the family business, which has to be challenging as it is one hit hard with the movement away from print to online for so many things. I look forward to a quick catch up with him.

All and all, not a bad week for my family. Our town annual celebration is this weekend with a very new format-almost music festival like. Some people love the change, others think it is going to be a disaster and not the same fun they were looking forward to. We shall see.  As it is a completely self supported event, to me its another case of, you want input, volunteer. You don't like the format, don't participate. I'm finding people will crab over everything and I'd think after a year with no celebrations, people would give a different format a try. That's my thinking right now-no time for whining, but sure enough, I'll whine about something irrelevant in the future as well. Play along! What's going on in your life this week?

The Friday Wrap-Up

When I'm in my blogging zone, I've used the last nine months or so of Fridays-maybe less-to wrap up my week in the W's. I've had a restful week with being on vacation, though all totaled, I'll still have at least 10 hours in, but 10 from 55 is a real break. I wasn't as ambitious house wise as I aspired to be, but some things got done that would not have had I worked.  even have it as a four day, fingers crossed my Friday will be taken as vacation. But that's next week's post.  Here's the W's of my life for this week.

What's top of mind: I'm hoping and keeping positive  thoughts that more people will be found in the apartment building rubble in Surfside, FL after the building collapse. It is frightening to think how fast tragedy can occur on an ordinary day. And of course, thinking of the responders who are putting their lives at risk to find more survivors.

Where I've been: We went out for a very late lunch-early supper for Father's Day as the day was a complete washout. We desperately needed the rain, so no complaints. I spent about 36 hours at the lake and went to both a soccer and a lacrosse game.

Where I'm going: Today I'm going to do a bit of thrifting-not sure if I'll buy anything but am looking for a new to me coffee maker since mine truly is dead. I also wouldn't mind finding a pair or two of longish shorts. As I purge clothes that just are not working for me, there are a few holes. Tomorrow my nice is hosting a first birthday party for her son. Sunday we'll try the cabin again and let DH play on his boat. My daughter is still there through the weekend and has a couple more friends joining her for the weekend.

What I'm reading:  Don't judge me, but I reread for the umpteenth time, two Elizabeth Ogilvie books. They just say summer to me and feel like I am visiting with old friends.

What I'm listening to: .Lucky me, as I am typing this, Kare 11 has a live guest visit of Davina and the Vagabonds! I've only seen them one time  in person, and am always envious when I hear friends went to some venue where they performed. A local artist, they have quite a following with out of towners as well as us Twin City folks. I don't even know if they are a Minnesota group, but they have a wild popularity here. Anne-this is for you as I think you will enjoy.

What I've been watching: I've binged a few more episodes of Manifest, but hearing that  there is not going to be more seasons after 3, we won't know the real mystery solved. That annoys me, so I doubt I'll keep watching if I won't know the ending. Maybe it will be picked up by a streaming service like  Designated Survivor was, and while that ending was quite lame, at least there was closure of sort.

What I'm eating:  I've given up meal planning for a bit and just trying to both cook what we have, and pick up what we are in the mood for. I know-not a budget  friendly or healthy way to eat. I've just not felt creative, organized, or care about what I'm eating-again, I know not good, and since no one else is stepping up, I guess they don't car either. I made  a huge pot of soup on Monday as it was coolish and DD2 has been bringing leftovers for her lunch. Not at all sure what DH has brought for his lunch. My daughters friend sent home a curry with me on Wednesday and daughter ate that too while DH and I had burgers. I'm in a rut again.

Who I'm paying attention to: Derek Chauvin is being sentenced today for the murder of George Floyd. Everything touching the murder, the trial, the aftermath can be fuel for more unrest and it worries me. I am following the details on the Minnesota special session and it looks like crisis will be averted and a budget ill pass before June 30th, avoiding a shut down of the state, or certain  programs and services of the state.

What I'm planning: I'll have a jam packed work week with the end of the fiscal year on June 30th and the start of a new one so I just plan to soak up these next three days of non-work time. I did some good retirement forecasting-as mentioned yesterday, we are on track, unless all the IF'S align the way we need them too. With this, I'm trying to organize a new blog schedule that will recap our progress towards the first goal date of 1/12024-DH's retirement target, and  11/26/2027, my retirement target . As all budgets are different, I'll track progress as a % of goal, both monthly and annually. The annual is likely to be fluid as I inserted placeholders for things that have no dates such as weddings or major travel. These placeholders will either be moved up or moved back once finalized, but are in the planning.

Even with being back in the office and it being a flurry of work, the following will already be a shorter week with the July 4th holiday thrown in. I've got three vacation days and two flex days on the calendar, and life might work to actually take them next month, which is 25% of the work month. August  I have both a flex day and to weeks off! I need to make the most of these days and keep the balance I've gotten back a bit this week. That's my wrap up for  this last Friday in June.

World of Mine-Friday W's

And just like that the calendar says it is Friday, February 19th. We have less than 10 days left of the short but oh so loooong month of February. I have a weekend I'm really looking forward to with things on my calendar and a break in the cold weather so I will try and be outside a lot.

What's top of mind: This is not a political blog, but I haven't avoided politics either, so readers will know while it was expected, I was still pissed about the acquittal for the 2nd Trump Impeachment. I can say though this last year has been a major civics lesson for all in the US, and my youngest has developed a passion for  Constitutional law. One of her majors is already International Relations, but she has room for a minor. She is heavily considering law school after graduation. There of course is time and she may change her mind several times, but I want young people to have a fire in their belly-but be educated, knowledgeable, and investigative, not spoon fed sound bites and pandering.

Where I've been: I've been in one park entry path, out another, and back in yet a third, and around and around pup and I go. The one day we ventured to walk on the road was so stressful, I won't be doing that until the snow melts or is completely cleared side to side. In broad day time, drivers are just not looking for people walking, drive faster than they should on snow packed roads, creating opportunities to slip and slide into anyone walking.

Where I'm going: With the warm weekend predicted, I am leaving my neighborhood and hope to head to a few walking jaunts I like-downtown, by the river (if they have cleared the path), the county park outside of town, and a nature center. As I mentioned yesterday, since I have had a cold, I'll stay outside only, and away from people, even with a mask on. Oh, and today, until just a few minutes ago, I had to work at my daughters as our Internet crapped out.

What I'm watching: I didn't watch any movies those past weekend, but I streamed the last few episodes of Death in Paradise, and met the new UK Inspector. If you watch, what do you think of the evolving leads? On a UK TV Facebook group, many people said they didn't like the new detective, but I actually like his quirks. He reminds me of the first Ben Miller character, but not so cantankerous.

What I'm reading:  I'm not sure when I can pick them up as I am a few people into the cue on several but I have seven books to pick up from the library. One is the book club book, Such a Fun Age, but if that doesn't get to me by March 2nd, I'll have to order or download an e-version so I can read it before our meet-up on March 5th. I also checked out another fiction book, two vegan cookbooks, and three retirement planning books. The retirement planning are ore about planning  retirement lifestyle, less about money.

What I'm listening to:  I'm so excited on Sunday to listen to DD2's streaming fall concert. Last year about this time we took the four hour drive to eat lunch with her, before she was on set-up duty, then watch the concert, and visit with her a bit afterwards, before turning around and heading home. I wish I was seeing it in person but a live stream is better than nothing.

What I'm eating: A lot of the same meals, but I did a good wander in some cookbooks and will try a couple new things next week. The chili from the freezer sure was nice to have on Wednesday night-just as good if not better than the first time. Cozy foods have been my go to this past week-portions of soup from the freezer, toast with peanut butter, and lots of fruit.

Who I'm paying attention to: I like the new Press Secretary. She doesn't get riled, but keeps an even keel when responding to questions where clearly some are trying to trip her up. In honesty, I don't think  anyone is being any harder on her than reporters were on the previous administrations  representatives, but they would get so hostile back, and  McEneny with her rifling through papers to find the sound bites she wanted instead of responding to the actual question was beyond annoying. I don't know if there will be a good SNL character with her though-remember Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer? Hilarious. Do I think the new administration is walking on water and fixing all the problems? No, not at all and mistakes and errors in judgement have already surfaced, but I feel calmer. I feel like adults are trying to resolve not cover up problems.

What I'm planning:  Well with watching the travel shows, I am planning on paper some good future trips. Stanley Tucci has me thinking Italy and the men in kilts have me thinking Scotland. Oh, and with Fat Tuesday ending Mardi Gras, I've NOLA on my mind. I am sketching out a driving trip, maybe for this fall, down the Mississippi to New Orleans. What's the weather like in November in the deep south? Likely planning vacations for some day will show up regularly.

My cold is easing up-fortunately I never got achy, or headachy, or lost taste or smell-just the sneezing and snot head, so pretty sure it was not flu or the dreaded C.  I will still avoid, even masked, people face to face at least to the 10 day mark of when the cold seemed to start on February 11th, so at least through Sunday. I would hope others would take the same precaution with my and my family's health if they had any symptoms, even if they felt well. I'll put off a brewery stop, but likely will get out downtown for a change of scenery with the dog. He loves a car ride so it'll make his weekend That's my W's for the week. Play along and share the What's of your life.
