Twittified
Are you on Twitter? I'm finding how much I like it. I've just set up a separate account @samandcoffee65, to accompany my blog only new e-mail, samandcoffee65@Gmail and to better sort through and catagorize the endless realms of possible people, companies and organizations to follow. I've had a personal Twitter account for several years, personal in a sense in that it ties to organizations for my family, political or charitable sites, and I used a lot for my work, for pushing out advocacy agenda's. My new job is very "neutral", apolitical, bi/multipartisan. I use the old account to follow people that are part of my everyday life, and while there might be crossover, there are distinctions. For this new account, while I will enter in a few hashtags on political issues to read the latest buzz, I'm not subscribing to those @samandcoffee65. I haven't ruled it out if I find relelvance to my blogging project.
How am I using this tool? One, I'm trying to make sure I send my blog posts out via Twitter. I like that I can give a few words of intro, and then the link appears. I've been following a lot of frugality feeds and cooking feeds. Most use the same option I am doing, with a brief statement and then the link to the more detailed post, news article, or magazine or web feature. I've also signed on to follow some bloggers via Twitter that I might not be interested in reading everyday, but depending on what they Tweet, I'll click the link to learn more. Some of these subjects are minimalism, entrepreneurship, and inspiration. I like one guy Jesse Torres, @jstorres, while a bit hokey, he has multiple inspirational quotes, memes, and info graphs that give me a little pick me up during the day. I follow a whole bunch of accounts on London living, Angliphiles, relocating, and working from home all basically to help me keep my dreaming alive and active. I like knowing all the trendy, free and low cost , and new things to do in London on a weekends. I do also follow similar accounts for my own communities as well, in case you think I have gone off the edge, but do that with the other account.
There is a darker side of Twitter that a few I follow have found. Like blogs, there are malicious trolls that just jump into the Twitter conversation to be rude or spark confrontation.I've been sucked in a little from time to time, but passively by favoring the original Tweet of the person being cyber bullied, or retweaeing or quoting them. Cyber world is a great place for bully's to hide, isn't it?
So what about you? Who else is on Twitter? If you are, give me a follow @samandcoffee65 and I will follow you back. I won't even be hurt if you decide to unfollow me later, but trolls be gone.
