Blogging With Burned Fingers

A 39 year old trauma resurfaced two hours ago.  Another hectic night trying to get dinner out of the oven, eaten quickly and off to the next.  To pull a pan of potato out of the oven I made the woeful mistake of grabbing a too thin oven mitt that also had gotten wet.  The double whammy of kitchen dumbness.  It took about three seconds for the searing heat to rip through the mitt, and start scorching my four fingers on my right hand. Only my thumb was spared.  Flashbacks of a serious burn injury at 11 flashed in my head, and it took me several more seconds before I let go of the burning pan. The pinkie and ring finger bore the brunt.  Tears as big as when I was 11 poured out of my eyes as I ran to the sink to get them in cold water.  I will have big bubbling blisters on both the fingers.  I think the middle and pointer should be fine-just a little tender.  I am full on right handed, so I will have an interesting day at work tomorrow.

  1. Oh, I was cringing at your pain. My dumb kitchen burn last was trying to pick up a cast iron skillet with bare hands. Hopefully, this burn will not be as bad as the one when you were eleven.

    1. Amazing how much pain can be in that little finger! I'm blistered but surprisingly smaller than I imagined so my first aid must have been speedy enough.

    1. Someone at work had an aloe plant. They opned a leave and the salve was a God send in healing. I still have blisters, but they are not hurting anymore. If I didn't think I would kill it, I would buy one of those.
