Just a Taste of New Orleans

I had a steamy taste and want more. I hope to go back as a proper tourist-perhaps take a short cruise out of there and have a land sea vacation. It won't be in this years budget. Highlights? I love southern people. Everyone calls you honey, and child, and sweety, and it never sounds condescending or sexist-just homey and like family. Walking along the streets, even in the heat, and there seemed to be a party vibe at all times. The food-love the cajun flavor, and while I don't do sea food, I was never short of options. A good gumbo tastes superb even if I'm drenched in sweat. The cable car was a fun way to do a loop around the city when you have little time to explore. The lows-really none other than the 6:00 a.m. wake up call due to reported emergency Wednesday morning, and the glass of wine the server knocked over from her tray on top of me at dinner that same night. It cleaned up, and smelling like a glass of white zin isn't the worst scent.  It would have been nice to have my meal or at least my wine comped, but she brought us more appetizers and free desert  samples. Here's my little taste of New Orleans in (bad) pictures. I had limited memory on my phone, and was navigating a computer in my back pack.

  2. Great pics and I'm glad you had fun. I love it down south. Everyone seems to care about you. It takes a while to get used to though. I have to ditch the northern mean, I'm used to.

    1. Or we have Minnesota nice-polite on the outside, guarded and upright inside. The music was so fun.
