What's Missing From This Picture?

We learned we dealt with a sale person that knows next to nothing about his product when we picked out the floor.  The tile installer comes yesterday and almost immediately said, "You can't use these tiles in this room. The moisture won't even let them stay put." A similar sounding product name was what we wanted. DH knew how to describe it, but didn't know specifically what it was called. He trusted the guy and we ordered based on his recommendation. Now we have to wait until Wednesday afternoon for a new order to be placed, and if we are lucky, Thursday or Friday they will be installed.

Big old sheet of cement.
Despite getting rid of the couch, chair and an old television, there was still my work armoire, another student desk, a book shelf and a bow flex to move to clear the floor for the installation. I'm using corners of my laundry room and the downstairs bathroom, the one that was supposed to be getting spruced up, to put the items until they can go back. Everything related to this house and our home life seems to be one big cluster @#%# right now, so this was on par. If not done by Friday, we'll just have to move furniture back out of their awkward storage spaces, and move it again. I need access to the washer and dryer and my armoire is blocking it. A desk in the bathroom is blocking access for others to use bathroom two.

Not very conducive to doing laundry.

When DH called me, I honestly was fighting back tears. I just want the room back again and it has been too long. While a pain in the ass, DH and I tried to keep reminding each other that we may be dealing with the aftermath of water damage, but we have our home. We've been inconvenienced but not displaced.I know that is true, but I am very disappointed and very tired. Yet, insomnia is back, and I'm going to post this a bit before 4:00 a.m. I tried falling back to sleep, but its futile to try if it doesn't happen within a few minutes. Trying to be productive but not noisy, I'm getting a jump start on some work, completed some additional school forms and payments (of course) for DD2, and finishing this post. I might be able to get another hour of sleep if I get some of this off my mind. Until tomorrow, or later today as it were, have a good one.

My sad modem without a desk to sit upon.

  1. Oh that stinks about the tile being the wrong kind, but at least you found out before it was put down. I'm sure it's going to look great when it's done. Home renovations are always full of surprises, but usually worth it in the end.

    1. So true-great way to look at it instead of being more disappointed to have it later be an issue.I will be very happy once done.

  2. You will forget all the upheaval once it's finished Sam so visualise it complete and put yourself in a happy place. Sometimes just lying there is as good as sleep so I would say don't get out of bed too soon just lie try to relax and stay put. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your room once it's finished.

    1. It is weird but in "true morning" I like to lie there a bit and think through my day, but when it is supposed to be sleep time night, I just lay there frustrated, so I get up.

  3. Hugs. What a giant pain in the ***. I too would be incredibly frustrated. Fingers crossed for a super fast delivery of the flooring you actually need.

    1. In hind sight, not the end of the world as now at least I have a nice big open space for extra tables and such for Sunday. I do need my bathroom and laundry room though.

  4. Be glad the installer told you it wouldn't work! It does stink and I know the wait seems unbearable right now. It will be so worth the aggravation after it is over, but not in the going through part. Fingers crossed for a quick delivery!

    1. That's what Clamco said as well, so better to have it done late, but correct.

  5. Crap on a cracker, I feel for you. I know exactly what it feels like to have your home torn apart like that for flooring (a couple of times unfortunately). Very fortunate that the installer spoke up. A newer one may have not.

  6. We return to our homes for respite, and when they are in upheaval it can be chaos emotionally. Hang in there. As we always say " this too will pass"!
wishing you a beautiful respite filled home very soon...oh and a beautiful new floor!

  7. That's so frustrating, at least the fitter was professional enough to tell you the truth. It will be worth it in the end, but it's just awful when you're right at that point where it seems never ending.

    1. You are right and the wrong product would have cost us more in time and money.
