March Showers

Saturday started chilly and hazy, but by 5:00, I was walking the dog in Capri's pants, bare ankles, and a short sleeve shirt. The weekend has been a lot of work. I made some progress house cleaning on Friday, but so much to do. with the nicer weather, fingers crossed, now here, some purging and reordering closets is needed. I let more money suck from our accounts and bought a new more portable but strong suction vacuum. I spent three separate times declogging and trying to improve the performance of the one we have.  It still is usable, but since I tend to need to power clean when I do clean at all, it was not working for me. DD2 got home late Friday-Saturday morning.  Tired, a bit hungry from two plane trips and just airport food. She loved Costa Rica, but did report that the trip was overly scheduled, and had more teenage drama from one of her roommates than she would have liked.

DD1 was in town about 3:00, and we spent the remainder of Friday shopping for groceries, and the finishing touches on her bridal shower plans. She did a terrific job making a very special day for her friend. We put together little bride and groom favor boxes. She had a selfie poster, Polaroid shot themed for guests to take photo's with the bride to be. The menu ended up being chicken pasta salad and croissants, veggie pizza salad (so delicious-amended post and recipe is below), fruit, veggie tray, chips, brownies, lemon bars, and mini cheesecake. She had water, citrus punch, and a mimosa station. Classy young gal. I have a few random pics of the planning, and the shower itself. Isn't DD2's pink and gray dress adorable? We dropped into a Goodwill just on chance to see if they might have any low cost dress pants and jackets for me to replenish my suit wardrobe. I found a brand new, with tags still on dress pants for $8.99, and she found this dress for $6.99, with a lightweight gray sweater for $5.99, both Ann Taylor. That's my girl. She has to slowly replace her wardrobe in much smaller sizes, and this was a great way to do so.

She's heading back to Wisconsin mid afternoon, but first we'll have a nice morning with her. Pup was in his glory having both his girls home, so I'll be dealing with some moodiness from him later.   I smell the coffee pot is on and think I'll join my daughter for a cup. Enjoy your Sunday.

Veggie Pizza Salad
1 tube crescent roll dough
6 ounces cream cheese (you can use more, if you want it thicker)
1/3 cup ranch dressing (you can use more or less to get to your preferred consistency)
shakes of ground black pepper and garlic powder
assorted chopped raw veggies of your choice
1-2 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
sliced black olives, diced peppers, or other choices of garnish on top

Spray a 9 by 13 baking pan
press dough in the bottom of pan, bake for 11 minutes
Blend cream cheese, seasonings and ranch dressing to use as the pizza base. Once crust is completely cool, spread mixture over crust then top with chopped veggies, press down slightly to  stay on the crust. Top with grated cheese and garnishes. Cut in as small as 24 pieces for a side or appetizer, or as big as 9 pieces for more a salad.

  3. I like the selfie poster gig - great idea. And I agree with Karen, your veggie pizza sounds great. It's nice reading US blogs (also having lived in the US for a time) as you have some great (and different to me) recipes and ideas. I will definitely give that try. Anna

    1. Another 30 year old church cookbook recipe! I thought the picture frame idea was cute. It took a while for people to participate though.
