Feeling Good Friday-Not Really Feeling It Edition

I've not been motivated this week to attend to my health and wellness needs. Sounds incredibly stupid. With the horrid cold earlier in the week, crashing into bed with not so much as washing my face left my skin dry and dull Wednesday morning. DH and I did the mad dash 15 minute scramble when I got home from work before my mother in law came over. I didn't even bother drinking my bottle of water on the way home. Again, leaving me feeling a bit dehydrated all over. When we are feeling a bit under the weather, that is when we should most take care to do the things that make us feel good. Maybe its just me, but humans are funny. I tend to take short cuts with myself, and in doing so, most likely prolong the crud. What exactly did I do this week that was self positive?

  • Unwashed face aside, I listened to my body and crashed in bed on Tuesday by 6:15 and slept almost 12 hours, not counting the dehydrating thirst that woke me up for sips of water. 
  • I downshifted my ideals of what a "company" dinner should be, and served a simple supper when my mother in law came over. Still, it was healthy, with chicken, rice, and vegetables, if not fancy. 
  • I delegated-a lot. It is not possible to fully do a full time job, and be fully engaged in three days of off site training. I was very selective in what I dealt with myself after hours and delegated, or set aside for now, any tasks that could be done later. Sure, I'll be a busy soul next week, but nothing fell through the cracks. 
  • Most management courses are repetitive to a certain extent. How much difference will there be anyway between presenters and experts. Still, I tried to fully attend and participate in the three days, and hope I refreshed skills, if I didn't necessary learn new skills. 
  • I have kept my weight in check, well, in check after the weight gain. February is my motivation month. 
Well, I came up with five feeling good Friday items after all. We take off in about four hours for my daughters out of the region show choir competition. We'll get her dropped off, get pup on a good long walk, and hit the road. I have provisions to keep us only having to stop for bathroom breaks. I'll need several. I have all that water to drink.

  1. I've been slowly noticing I'm snacking more & eating out of boredom vs actual hunger. I unpicked that a bit, and got to the bottom of what was causing it. So, feeling happy that I at least took the time to figure out what was causing it, vs just continuing? I guess that's the bright side.

    Hope you are able to catch up after your training. I relate - when I travel, I fall so far behind my normal work. Even though, they are work trips. It's no fun.

    1. My problem has been poor planning. Life at work has been challenging due to staffing shortages, but I need to think thorugh my meal and snack options and plan ahead. The day to day work doenst just go away does it. I feel like I stayed pretty productive though.

  2. I think sometimes we all need to step back, ask for (and accept) help, simplify and just let things be what they are (unwashed faces and all)
    I have noticed some weeks I am not up to my regular self and am totally uninspired. They pass and then I hit my groove again, but not without me beating myself up for allowing them to happen.

    1. Asking for help is probably one of the strongest things that a person can do. It takes stregth to admit limitations, allow others that do things well to shine (at work that is a real isse for some women I notice).

  3. Sorry you have been feeling so yuck. I know if I go to bed with only a perfunctory face clean I feel even worse the next day, but to go to bed at 6 pm must mean that you surely weren't well. Sometimes we just have to listen to what our bodies are screaming at us don't we. Hope you feel better soon. Anna

    1. That night helped tremendosuly but I still have this hacking cogh and congestion in my chest. I feel moderatley well, other than that. Dh has had it for two weeks already and no sign of it improving, but yet he feels well enough too. Thanks Anna.

  4. I hope you feel better soon! And definitely you have to let things slide sometimes and just take care of yourself. That's Sunday for me... or maybe this evening... ;) I'm impulsive that way.

    1. We had a long drive yesterday, then met up with other parents for dinner. We are just relaxing this morning until we head over aobut 12:30 for the show choir competiton No work until we are back and I am taking advantage of the down time. I hope you get your rest.
