I'm a Cheap Date

Beer and pizza on Tuesday. Sounds like a bowling night. Nope. I was alone last night for supper, but feeling like I nee to keep making the most of these beautiful summer night. I took pup for an extra long walk. He loves when we pass other dogs, needs to greet them nose to nose and gets annoyed if the other owner or dog isn't acquiescing to his requests. We went extra long, and I was already later getting home after stopping to pick u the shoes I ordered for DD2 at Kohl's since they didn't have theme in the store.

I'm really trying to rein in spending these last few days of July. The VISA came yesterday, filled with fees for the train tickets and our Paris Passes. Plus, we had a few meals out and some necessity purchases, so another high one. Still, I was in the mood for something a little nicer than just a sandwich.
Before, sprinkled with pepper and garlic...

I found a tube of Aldi's crescent rolls, slightly past their sell by date, but I thought they seemed fine. Using the last of a bit of pasta sauce and mozzarella, and the last to a tomato, I made this Margarita pizza. I made a side salad of more tomato and cucumber, and washed 1/3 of it down with a couple Leinenkugel's still left form the 4th. The night was perfect on the deck, enjoying the cold beers, the tasty salad and pizza. One might have thought I was at one of the pubs. I made DH a turkey burger as the pizza wouldn't be enough for him, and saved 1/3 for DD2 for after her work shift. My little date with myself was a bargain. $3 bucks for a couple beers, and pizza made with remnants. Living the high life in Minnesota.
...after baking.

    1. I'm so glad someone thought to put sliced tomato on a pizza-it is probably, along with spinach, my favorite pizza topping now.

    1. I guess if you don't like your own company, you shouldn't be the company of others. It was a nice night.

  3. Beer and pizza - the perfect match! In Paris it'll be beer and croissantes.

    1. Most likely wine, lots of wine and croissants and bread. I'm saving my beer palette for Beligum and Germany.

    1. What's funny to me is this would be a nice item on a pub menu or a nice appetizer in a good restaurant. I'd have easily served it to guests.

  5. The pizza looks great. It seems I am always dragging out the remnants for a meal. But, they are here and paid for. I think those tubes of biscuits and stuff are okay as long as they have not popped open all by themselves.

    1. The tube was fully sealed and I know there is fudge factor on those dates. We're all healthy! Last night, I ended up alone again for dinner, so it was a leftover baked potato, cut into cubes, some American cheese, and a few pieces of deli turkey warmed and rolled into a tortilla. I used up the last tortilla and the potato that might have gone to waste-pretty tasty with a dollop of sour cream and some salsa.
