Home Administration

I am feeling woefully behind in home administration, just doing the minimum to keep us afloat. I only have one thing on the calendar this weekend, my mom's of teens group for breakfast Saturday morning. Otherwise, the weekend will be for cleaning, cooking and baking, and all the pesky tasks of the business of life.
  • Pay all the October bills
  • Pay October Show Choir payment
  • Shuffle money between accounts for various bills
  • Convert unspent Euros back to American dollars
  • Book hotels for out of town show choir trips
  • Organize holiday season calendar (it gets pretty busy and I don't want to double book)
  • College support admin-FAFSA for daughter's college, pay for transcripts and AP scores etc.
I'll feel more on top of things if I get these all off my plate this weekend. Our anniversary was yesterday so either tonight or we'll wait until Saturday, we'll go out for dinner. After the trip, I am all anniversary celebration out for a while, so don't really mind if we don't do something special. This weekend must be about the admin. We have outdoor stuff that needs to be dealt with as well before winter. Our poor neighbors up north are already seeing sleet and snow, though hopefully it won't stick yet. I'm already in weekend mindset, despite it only being Thursday morning. I have a rough two days ahead of me-best get on with them.

  1. Belated happy anniversary wishes.
I enjoy a good admin session. I do mine on the day my husband is paid and that's usually it for the month, unless we have something unexpected that requires some money shuffling, or like this month, my new credit card arrived so I needed to change the details on online accounts that I use; I never use my debit card online as too many problems would be caused by fraudulent activity.

    1. Our cash flow has been odd this month with DH's lower checks, and the timing of my biweekly check is still off since August had three pay periods, so we needed to wait until I got paid today-stretching our timing of paying bills. We got a new card this month as well so another task to switch things-thanks for the reminder and for the anniversary wishes.

  2. Whew! You're busy!
It's funny you are in weekend mode on a Thursday, because that's when I tend to prep for the weekend. I call Thursdays "Friday Eve." I do a deep clean on Thursdays, so the house is clean for the weekend, so that on Friday, my only cleaning task is to launder everyone's sheets.
Home administration is a huge task. I would much rather clean than spend time on the phone or the computer with banks, insurance companies and the like. I delegate that sort of business to DH!
Today, we are waiting to hear from our neighbors in Florida to see how our place fared.

    1. I can't wait until my schedule goes back to normal and I can have my Friday flex days off again-once this grant is submitted on November 6. I'll also start telewoking officially one day a week, so I will be cutting out at least eight hours a month in commuting time. then, I will think about those Thursdays as Friday Eve=love it. I am so sorry for what all are facing with the hurricane-I hope your place, and importantly, your neighbors are safe.

  3. I have to admit I stress if my administrative stuff isn't done - the rest I'm not so bothered about. I see where you're coming from.

    1. By Sunday night, I should feel like my home world is back on track. Getting my holiday planning list together will be a great feeling as then I feel like I enjoy my weekends more as I know the holidays will be filled with family and friends and not tasks.

  4. Happy Anniversary, just breathe and take it one day at a time. This is the time of year when everything tends to take off, school starts, holidays, change in the weather. I have every weekend this month booked already and it tires me out just looking at my calendar!

    1. Other than my mom's group, nothing this weekend is scheduled, so I can choose or not choose to do anything. I'll soak it in because that is not the case for the foreseeable future.

  5. Home admin is difficult. I have to constantly remind myself to be productive, not just busy, so have a wonderful and productive weekend!

    1. That is a good distinction-I do hope to be productive. I can whittle away precious minutes doing pointless busy work if I am not focused.
