DD2 Went Into the Woods

I'm sure she is exhausted, but as I write this, she is now part of the crew taking down the beautiful set for the High School production of Into the Woods. You know what they say, no small parts, just small actors. Well, Rapunzel featured pivotal in the storyline, but was on stage  pretty lightly. Her one song "Ah ah ah ah aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Ah Ah" lilted from behind the stage several times until she finally was wheeled out in her tower. It was a long play, and very fun to watch. This was her last fore ray, at least for high school, in musical theater. She was a younger sister in  Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Young Cosette in Les Mis, sat out last year and ran track, and joined the group for one last plays as Rapunzel. She had a lot of family and friends come and watch her. despite the weekend being almost too perfect to be inside. Here's a few photos.

  1. Aaahhh that looks like such fun! Geneva has a very large, anglophone amateur dramatics group and I really enjoy their productions (for the most part - had to walk out of Much Ado About Nothing - damn it was boring)! They also have an excellent under 18s group and will NEVER know where they get their talent and their confidence from. It's not something I was gifted with but those kids are amazing, so I do admire anyone who can do it!

    1. When community theater is good, what an opportunity. We've gone to some though that I'd rather go to a middle school play, but hats off to those that just want to participate.

  2. Gosh, I've just realized, Geneva's amateurs are also putting on Into the Woods at the moment. What a coincidence!

  3. That's really impressive because Into The Woods is a very long musical...at least the movie was. I don't doubt she's exhausted. I love how the tower came out.

    1. Oh yes-very long. Act one was 80 minutes, 0 minute intermission, and then another hour almost. The kids were incredible and had so many cancelled practices due to snow days and illness.

  4. How fun for your daughter to get to have such a diverse set of experiences in high school, and in her final year. She's in the home stretch before graduation - I'm sure you're both ready! :-)

    1. She's been fortunate, but very over stretched. this last week took a lot ou of her with 5 hour nightly practices and three shows. good thing she is young.

    1. Four of her close guy friends were in it, so extra special. Her short term boyfriend who was always really just her friend was Prince Charming and what a charmer he was-nailed the role perfectly.

    1. I wonder if maybe she'll give it a try in college-probably depends on time and friend group. I'll keep going to the high school plays though.
