Here's a bit of recent adds to my pile of clothing so far-very slim as things made their way back in the closet. Weird combination unless I truly make it a crazy quilt I've got my attention set to future church basement sales or even garage sales last day when folks just want to get rid of things-but then, I'd defeat the purpose of trying to purge, but make use, of my own un-functionable clothes and such. DD2 is sure to be able to purge when she’s next home. Whether I do any cutting or just keep making piles for keep, donate, quilt, it will keep me busy this cold weekend. However the allergies may have moved to full on head cold so I’m feeling low energy. Kim may be right and DH brought it home, or I picked up in store or office. We’ll see how much more I get done today besides laundry and weekly tidy as I have tomorrow as well.
Pup even decided yesterday was too cold. He was hopping on his hind legs, but not hurt. He loves the snow, and will not let me get booties on him, but I worry about his little paws. After he did his job, I only let him walk and sniff for another couple minutes, but then picked him up and carried him most of the way back home until he balked. He was happy to be back in, ate drank, and cuddled up again for a nap, complete with snores. I am biased but he truly is the most adorable little guy.
Other Saturday activities have been baking and "decorating" these vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I bought the liners with the picks a few years ago probably 75% or more off. I made 12 cupcakes and then a loaf size for DH and my Valentines dinner tomorrow. I also just for fun, made a few paper hearts and put on the back patio window and some on the dining room table-anything for a little cheer. I don’t have Valentines decorations but I have construction paper left from years ago.
Did anyone see pictures from the White House North lawn? I love Dr. Biden's large heart display-nice nod from an educator.
Dinner's just going to be an interesting something. I was tired of moving around frozen Turkey broth in the freezer so popped it in the crockpot with more veg and will add some steamed potatoes, leftover carrots, and some already cooked chicken. Will it be stew, soup, dumpling base? I don’t know yet. I have a nice dinner planned for tomorrow plus may try and tackle a no knead cinnamon roll dough recipe, so taking advantage of getting that spot back in my freezer and an easy dinner.
DH’s gift from our son arrived-a box set of classic Clint Eastwood movies-a hit. I'm not sure what the viewing will be tonight,(not Clint Eastwood for me) but I think after dinner we'll hunker down with something, and since no official work on Monday, I may open a bottle of wine to have half tonight and finish tomorrow. That’s good for colds, right? Enjoy your Saturday night.
I did see photos of Dr. Jill Biden on the front house lawn painting. That was neat to see. I like her, she seems so down to earth.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your allergies have turned into a head cold. I hope you are feeling better soon.
Good planning on your part to use up the frozen Turkey broth and make soup. That will be good for your cold too. And the wine too, that is good for all that ails you. LOL
My crockpot meal was moderately successful with lunch for Monday, plus a freezer meal.
DeleteI am in the process of taking things out of the freezer and simultaneously putting other foods in the freezer. My allergies always bother me in February, and I am suffering right now, too. I have a stack of Tommy's shirts to give away. But, I am torn as to whether to keep them or not for napkins. One shirt will yield three or four napkins, small ones.
ReplyDeleteAs for a machine, I would recommend NOT getting one from WM or other big box. I keep a machine that does nothing but sew backward and forward. Plus, you can add a buttonholer. It is basic and simple. But, mine is 57-yr-old Sears I bought when I went to college. My suggestion is to make sure whatever machine you purchase has metal gears. Nothing else will last no matter what you read or hear.
Also,
DeleteDon't get a computerized machine.
Good advice.
DeleteRest as much as you can and feel better soon. Enjoy your Valentine's dinner tomorrow xx
ReplyDeleteIt was a no wine and early to bed evening.
DeleteI have large plastic bins full of quilting things. It is crazy. I keep thinking I will have the time someday. Yeah someday....Hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteI more just want to feel like I could make a darn quilt!
DeleteI've just Googled Dr Biden and her display, how lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour little dog is gorgeous, I'd love to see him in boots! Our cats are hating this cold snap, I keep threatening to dress them up to keep them warm.
Feel better soon. xxx
To get him in boots would be a full on fight, but he is adorable. Teh pop of red is a nice break from the ugliness in Washington.
DeleteI've always wanted to make a crazy quilt too but I'm more into purging and getting stuff out at the moment. Sorry you aren't feeling well. Wine will definitely help ;)
ReplyDeleteI think a bin at some point to put all the material in a bin and get to it at some point.
DeleteI remember living in MI February and V-Day were always slushy/wintery wet days indeed. The red/pink made a nice contrast.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I think too. Then we get a pop of green at St Patrick's-maybe enough to give us a little spring hope.
DeleteMy little dog just stops walking in the snow because her little paws are cold. I Yesterday she just laid down, of course I picked her up & carried her. I like a little Clint Eastwood movie every once in a while. Living in Iowa I enjoyed The Bridges of Madison County. I sat in on the bar stool in the little café that Clint Eastwood sat on during the movie.
