Water, Water, Everywhere

Part of my less than perky self this week is that I have been battling illness again. In spite of running full throttle on the weekend, I wasn't feeling fantastic, and then the overdose of sun, drained the remaining energy I had. Still, I love the warm sunny weather and getting the natural dose of vitamin D my body so often is lacking. In trying to re-hydrate myself from the inside out, I remembered but forgot parts of the facts from biology. I've been keeping a water bottle with me at all times and have managed to drink at least two fillings of my large 20 ounce bottle each day of work. But, I didn't skip coffee, and probably over did it on the caffeine part. I couldn't sit for an hour before I was down the hall-all day yesterday, all day long making for a much fractured day in my work flow. Still, I feel like my body is rebounding. The pink is fading and my face is looking more human again.

We've had massive rain fall the last two nights.  DD2's soccer game was cancelled and following the massive rain is the massive pain in the ass with rescheduling the game. My friend who lives about 75 miles south of me likes to keep a rain gauge and posts the rain fall amounts on his Facebook. It is hard to see, but you can just make out a little water line at above the 4 inch marker.

Water is a remarkable thing. We are 60% water ourselves, and need it for life. Yet, water can cause so much destruction, just ask the folks in the Houston or Paris. Water gives me lots of enjoyment. We plan to be at the Lake on Sunday for Father's Day, and I'm hoping to just back float on the water on an air mattress or a couple noodles. Don't worry, I've bought SPF 70 and may even borrow a big wide brimmed sun hat.

  1. The older I get, the less I can stand being in the sun. But, I remember the suntan I got before Valentine's Day one year. I think I was addicted to the sun.

    1. I rarely get tan-the best I can hope for is that my fair skin takes on a summer glow-but not a red glow.

  2. I love the sun. LOVE it. That said I can tell when I overdo it. Cool showers and iced tea. Dr.s orders. Well, Dr. Sonya's orders. And there wasn't even alcohol in that order. Something must be going on with me.

    1. Well it was a post about water, not fire water.I developed a fondness for good brewed ice tea-not the powdered koolaid stuff when I worked in a pizza restaurant in college. I would drink it by the quarts at the end of the night cleaning up the restaurant-a squirt of lemon, and a little sweetener just to cut the bitter-heaven.

  3. I enjoy ice cold water when it's hot - it's my drink of choice. KL only ever drank water - until she discovered alcohol!

    1. I love ice water too, but at work, it just is from the water cooler, so not the coldest. My kids are all better at drinking water than I ever was/am.

  4. I am from the south and all southern babies grow up drinking brewed iced tea. I just don't think there is anything better!

Glad you are feeling somewhat better!

    2. I don't like super sweet tea. All you have to do is ask for unsweetened tea, because unless you declare it you will be served sweet tea. Really sweet tea!
