Getting My Blogging Mojo Back

My posts have been a little meh lately, and I apologize for that. Between the black plague that gripped my house and the mix of being overwhelmed from missing so much work with being somewhat bored at the work itself, I've not had my blogging mojo on. DD2 still has a chunk of missing work in a variety of classes, and that is priority one for Sunday. We also need to run up to Kohl's and find her a swim suit. We need to go to Kohl's, the only store for which I have a card,  unless I want to pay cash. I did a dumb thing, and still can't figure out what happened. Somewhere between paying for groceries  Thursday night and wanting to buy gas n Friday, I misplaced my credit card. I've looked everywhere so we had no choice but to cancel, and now are waiting for the replacements   Nothing unexpected showed up, so we don't think it landed in unscrupulous hands, but very inconvenient as we use instead of cash for everything.

I didn't do a huge shop, but picked up odds and ends and simple foods so that we can spend the bulk of the weekend getting caught up with house, work, school and not spend too much time in the kitchen. I do plan to make a huge pot of soup perhaps Monday night, using up the stockpile of carrots. If anyone has a great carrot soup recipe, let me know otherwise I'll google and trust the number of stars a recipe might receive. I recall having a carrot and ginger soup at a luncheon once before that was delicious, but have never tried making it. DD2 suggested meatloaf, and I'll make one today as well either for tonight or to eat Monday or Tuesday, along with veggies, salad, and potatoes.

Saturday was DD2's last show choir competition, though she has back to back finale shows at the end of the month. I'm posting a couple pictures so you can all see how gorgeous she is-doting mom! Compare it to the baby face from my post a few days ago when she got her drivers license and she hardly looks like the same kid. It was in the twin cities for once, so only a 45 minute drive as opposed to the three plus hours the others have been. She is the smaller lighter brown haired girl on the right, with her bestie, the one who stayed with us last spring.

March 18th is DD1's best friends bridal shower.  She and I were texting a bit for planning.  The shower guest list grew, and now sounds like it will be one of her only ones, so a few people have stepped in to add a fruit bowl and some deserts. That will help DD1's budget a bit, but this is her first effort at hosting so has the rest of the menu and games to plan. It will be lovely, but she has been on a business trip all week covering the NFL combine in Indianapolis, so will need some mom help.

It feels good to just unload mundane, but good, busy life stuff. This is the last week before spring break and DD2's trip, and I plan to spend the next two weeks rebooting 2017 in my house and in the blog space. It should be a good savings month, a three paycheck month, and fingers crossed, I can keep spending at bay and pocket some savings. Have a great week.

This is costume change three, disco dresses.

Sophisticated costume one.

  1. What a good Mom to help out with the shower. A three paycheck month! I used to love those. We pay ourselves only once per month (to cut down on my paperwork, my choice) so never see those anymore

    1. I don't like the next two months after if DH had low checks as it's so far into the month before 1st check comes, but like the 26 checks a year. I've known the bride, even hired her for her first professional post college job, since she was 9, so happy to help.

  2. DD2 is a darling girl. You have every right to be proud!
It is very kind of you to help with the bridal shower. The best things about mom's are how they jump in and pick up the slack.

    1. Both my girls are treasures, but then aren't all our children and grandchildren? She wants her friends special time to be wonderful, but just starting out herself, she doesn't have the budget to do all she might like to.

    1. They are absolutely adorable on all these young dancer/singers, but my carpet is taking a beating with all the sequins falling off, and they are so scratchy-the girls have visible scratched on their arms! I'll have to post one of the guys in their orange sequin tops-very groovy!
