Last Monday after getting a letter from my daughters college to create a medical kit I finally went ahead and ordered the 10 pack of Old Navy masks, then perused a bit. I found I could layer two different promotions on top of clearance items and refresh my wardrobe -spruce up a bit more than the shorts and t-shirts that have been my summer work attire, stretching the items to do double duty into the fall.
Most of my new clothes came on Friday. I am still waiting on the white linen pants, which was disappointing because they would have been nice for Saturday night, though I wore the blue sleeveless with a pair of narrow knee length off white shorts and it looked nice. I wore with my "Mirkenstocks" as my co-worker dubbed our Target knock-off strappy slide sandal. . I'm pleased with the purchases though I will need a cami under the white tunic, and under both the sleeveless. As I am so busty, I have to get a larger size to fit well in the chest area. However, then shirts fit baggier in other places, mainly under the arms. I find this is the case with most sleeveless shirts-and motivation to try and tighten up my shoulders arms, back, and chest so I can maybe size down and still have the bust room. Here's a few pictures-sorry, not modeling them..
I realized I've bought more clothes this year than I think I have bought the previous two years combined, particularly new.
White long sleeve T
Black long sleeve T
White linen pants'\
Black linen pants
Polka dot tunic
White Tunic
Black batik pattern sleeveless blouse
Blue Batik pattern sleeveless blouse
Striped slip on shoes
black flats
The list above cost a combined total of $103, and I will easily wear these things for a minimum of 2 years-probably much longer as I have no real sense, nor care for the latest fashion. I've been trying to avoid fast fashion, but there is noting fast about my wardrobe turnover. Before office life opens up again, I need another walk through my work wardrobe and mend and purge. I like my selection above because depending on what bottom I choose, the shirts can be casual or business casual. The shirts will work with dress pants, certain skirt styles, and jeans. Vice versa, depending on what shoe, the black pants at least can be either work or play. I'll update on the verdict of the white pants once they arrive and the quality of the masks.
I like both shirts and especially the first one. The shoes are cute too. I need to order at least one more mask and I would like to have a face shield too.
ReplyDeleteThe blue sleeveless is a nice print-worked well with my old long shorts. I'll share my thoughts on the ON masks once they arrive. I wonder if teachers will all feel like they want the shields.
DeleteI am not busty, just fat, and not in the bust...lol. I hate when things are so low cut under the arm. I like your choices. I am working my way up to sewing, so may never shop again. I wish I could wear that type shoe. You did well on the prices. The first blouse is my favorite of the two.
ReplyDeleteThe sleeveless blouses are very similar-one navy and the other black. I love the polka dot tunic and know I'll get some good wear form that.
DeleteLove the shoes! I am busty and have to select my tops very carefully. If they aren't fitted in the bust, they tend to drape like a circus tent, and create an unfortunate maternity look. Of course, too tight in the bust isn't a good look either (particularly for work), so it's a delicate dance.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the Old Navy masks? What did you think? I'm considering ordering some for the kids/myself.
That's a bit what I think blouses do to me-circus tent and maternity, but these are flowy style, so looks a little intentional and less sloppy. Aren't the shoes cute? The masks haven't arrived yet, but I'll review once they do. At $2 a mask, I figured worth the try. My mask sewers said they happily make more but elastic is still in short supply.
DeleteI love those sleeveless tops and the spotty blouse - really stylish! xxx
ReplyDeleteComing from you, that is good endorsement n style. The fabric feels OK as well. I was worried it would be cheap feeling since Old Navy, but not bad. I think if I was on gentled and line dry I'll keep the freshness for a few years.
DeleteTowards the end of my working life I was determined not to buy any more work clothes. I had enough anyway to alternate every day but man was I sick of those clothes by the end. I swore I wouldn't buy any more until I'd lost weight - looks like I'm gonna be walking round naked for quite some time then!
ReplyDeleteI haven't given up trying to lose weight-have a surprise on Wednesday night, but I realized how literally scrappy my wardrobe was becoming. It felt so nice to be wearing something with a little zing-and I even put earnings in!
