Meal Plan Wrap Up- Why Bother Week

Nothing was aligned with my plan. Starting with the mega stock up, straight to eating out with siblings Friday night and take out last night. The good, DH has leftover fish and boneless wings and he and the pup will have a guys day today, after they go back to bed after driving us to the airport. I hope he treats himself a bit. I feel a little guilty leaving him behind, but he'll much better enjoy his limited vacation in summer and fall. In case you wanted poor menu planning ideas, here's how the week went.

  • Sunday: Rotisserie chicken from Sam's Club, mashed potatoes
  • Monday: Chicken and biscuits
  • Tuesday: Chicken tortellini soup
  • Wednesday: Aldi red bag chicken and homemade French fries
  • Thursday: Sloppy Joes, Asian cabbage salad
  • Friday: Fish fry
  • Saturday: Applebee's take out
Were any of these meals planned? Nope. That's ok, it was what it was. I'll make curry next Saturday for the college kid with plenty to take home. DH is left with plenty to keep him sustained. I made up something similar to last months granola/flap jack/thing. I'm bringing along squares of it in an air tight container for travels, but leaving plenty for DH. Those are the extent of any planning.

Next week I'll be bound and determined to have and follow a plan. Until then, every meal is day to day. I still like to snoop at other people's kitchen. Share your meal plan with me in the comments.

From the Washington Post
Did you know Washington DC is laid out in a similar design as Paris? Here's hoping we have delicious food in our capital city as well. Bon appetit!

    1. So far, we've had a few blips, not smart things on our part, but managed. I'll just plan to be nimble. That's all I can do.

  2. Our last week went similarly. Everyone got fed, so it was a win in that regard. Hope your trip is fabulous!

    1. Sometimes, that's the only goal. Keep fruit handy for snacks, and just know meals will regulate once life does.

  3. Tonight I am roasting a chicken, sides to be determined. I need to restock the freezer with chicken chili so that will be on the menu Tuesday night.
I don't really plan meals until the day or two before.
Sounds like you left your hubs well situated on the food end.
    Have a great time!!

    1. As I found with the rotisserie chicken, your roasted version will start you off with endless possibilities.

  4. It makes sense that DC was designed on the Paris urban development plan since the architect, Pierre Charles L'Enfant was born and raised in Paris. 8-)

    1. Sluggy the historian helps me again. I knew there was a distinct link, but didn't look it up.

  5. Thawing in the refrigerator--chicken breast chunks, chicken tenders, Italian sausages. The ground beef is thawed. I have stir fry vegetables in a bag, romaine salad, and farmer's salad, a bag of baby carrots, and a bag of shredded carrots. I have ideas of what goes with what, but nothing formulated yet. I will prepare the meat and freeze some of it.

The manner in which foods are combined depends on how I feel, what is left over, if we ate something small while out, or our moods.

    Enjoy your trip.

  7. I am not one to do much Lent, but I do like to abstain and fast on Fridays during lent. Vegetarian meals are better than fish, but I love fish so it doesn't feel a deprivation to have some.

    1. As kids, Friday school lunches were meat free. Very heavily Catholic community, though my family is not.
