Positively Tuesday- Real Spring??

The calendar says spring is here. Dirty mounds of snow say "You live in Minnesota and be prepared for a dumping of snow anytime until May!" Still, chilly but sunny on the weekend had me at least walking with a pardon the pun, spring in my step! Weather aside, my world is OK and I wish it was so everywhere. Here's my count of 10 things that brought me joy, simple pleasures, or a smile since my last Positively Tuesday post.

  1. I'll start with my daughters concert. I'll add that I had a pleasant catch-up with my MIL who I haven't seen for several weeks.
  2. We also got a nice talk in at intermission with the parents of one of our daughter's friends. They met their first week freshmen year and have been close since. We live a good hour from her parents, but have enjoyed seeing them at the choir events.
  3. DH, DD1, and I had a Friday movie night- enjoyed the Adam Project on Netflix.
  4. Spent a nice Saturday morning with my daughter getting all the errands run. It was nice to have shopping company with someone who wouldn't load my cart with items we didn't need.
  5. I took pup for a short walk Saturday and a long walk Sunday by the river. The sun welcomed spring and he sure got his dog friend fix and I came home exhausted. But later, one of the mom friends texted to meet up for a walk, so I went again- followed by Happy Hour cheap beers downtown. It was a good Sunday. When we got back to cars, my daughter had just parked as she was going for another walk by the river.
  6. DH and I went to a newish Mexican restaurant in town. Food was delicious and plenty, with my leftovers taken home.
  7. I treated DH to blueberry pancakes Sunday morning. He was pleased which made me smile. He devoured a stack of four! I even made a couple extras he had Monday with yogurt, so double happy husband. He absolutely loves blueberries.
  8. I spent just 30 minutes, don't judge, getting the Christmas wreath dismantled, and finally thrown, then cleaned the porch. Yes, the lights and garland came down two months ago, but the wreath was still tied to the railing not thought about. I save the ribbon and pretty pinecones to add to the garland the following years.
  9. Enjoyed bookclub Monday night. The book, The House on Tradd Street was kind of mediocre though, mostly because the main character wasn't very relatable an immature for her supposed age and career.
  10. I squeezed in a daytime walk with pup, and then another when I logged off. This will be my strategy on any warmish days.
I took a bunch of river picks. Seeing the first boats out made me smile but I bet the spray was icy cold! Here's hoping your day is a Positively Tuesday.
Still quite a bit of unmelted snow.
I skipped taking pictures of the huge
mounds of dirty snow.

First speed boat on river

And first pontoon.

Pup found a new friend.

Big boats still on dry land but in
another eight weeks or so, they'll go in.

  1. Yes - definitely a spring in my step here too - it has been a long time coming - a slow winter and a mediocre start to spring, but finally sunshine and blue skies, long may it last :)

  2. Sounds like some lovely joys!
Glad you enjoyed your daughter's concert and the meetup with friends. Yummy on the blueberry pancakes and the mexican date night. We enjoyed the Adam project movie too this weekend.
Wishing you another week of joys.

  3. I have been really enjoying our spring weather. I would not like snow until May.

    1. Eight years ago we got a wallop on May 1! My daughter had a spring Jazz concert snowed out in mid April. We just can't get too complacent until mid May here.

  4. Your pictures are lovely! It's supposed to be our warmest day of the year today (by far) at 78. We got a lot of rain on Saturday, which we really need, so I'm looking forward to the sunshine.

I loved your shopping companion, who doesn't throw things in the cart. My shopping companions this weekend added numerous bakery items. I pulled some out, but a few remained. They are *always* hungry.

For me this week, positives are:
-A much reduced meeting week, with fewer early mornings
-Nicely coinciding with my schedule, the boys have late start a few days this week, so I've been able to sleep in until 7, which is quite late for me
-I ordered myself a treadmill. I'm thrilled about it. We had one in Seattle that I used almost daily, but had to get rid of it when we moved. I've missed it for the last 8 years! We don't have a spot in the house that fits it well, so we've held back. But, I've decided to just make it work & enjoy the fitness. It's not like we have large parties or anything, that would make this a problem.
-The boys are wearing suits this week to an event (first time in suits, ever!) & look adorable.

    Happy Tuesday!

    1. My daughter also keeps me in check. I didn't buy the adorable egg platter-that I literally would put out for one week, and tuck away for 51! Good for you on the tread mill. We are exploring stationary bikes for us both. I'll get the kind that would have a lap top stand so I can peddle and do webinars and training. We too need to do a clean ut of the end of the family room, but I think can make it work.

    1. I like the newness, but it's actually # 3 of the four seasons/ I'm a summer person and love the fall colors. I hate the slush and gray before green comes in the spring. But, I appreciate the glorious weather days.

  6. The start of the spring season is so very welcome. Mounds of dirty snow is where we're at here too. The weather forecast suggests snow showers today but we're also supposed to be 5C (39F) so I'm not sure how that computes.

Sounds like a wonderful week. Enjoy your walks!

    1. The snow today should melt very quickly, and hopefully take the dirt mounds with it.

  7. You inspire me to make blueberry pancakes! Just throw blueberries into the mix?

    1. Mine were frozen berries, and large as they were handpicked, so I thawed them a bit and yes, added to my mix before pouring the batter on the griddle pan.

  8. Lovely photos!
I would hate to think there was the possibility of snow until May. I would say things are nearly perfect here, but The Great Pollination has begun and things are turning yellow. In about two weeks it should be over, meanwhile the sneezing and itchy eyes has begun.

    1. And yet, there is always that possibility, but it doesn't stay. April and March snow will linger if a good dumping-but mixed with warm days. We're getting some pollen, but will really ramp up in May.

  9. SO jealous of your concert goings, as that time of my life is over, so I have to live vicariously through you, and it is not nearly as much fun. Sluggie's husband loves blueberries also, and so does my husband isn't that funny? Men must just love blueberries. I would love to take the walks you take. Maybe someday I will fly out and accost you and get you to take me on a walk. I would just love that and it would be a joy we could share!

    1. My daughters love them as well. I still have a stash form picking last summer, but my daughter bought a massive frozen bag at Sams she uses in smoothies and in her banana pancakes. You would be welcome to be my walking buddy any time.

  11. My new GS was born yesterday in Oxford, England. No name yet but he weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces and had a head of dark hair. I won't see him until he goes back to California but the plan is the end of May or early June. My son gets 3 months paid paternity leave! Speaking of blueberries, I got 2 containers last week in my farm share delivery and will get another this week. I'm not a fruit eater but if I do say so, I make a mean blueberry pie. The concert sounds great- older GS sang in a men's group but now in college, he's just in the band. He isn't a music major either but one of those I have to be busy all the time kids. Last week I made 2 new recipes and this week, just 1 so far but at last I'm using some of the many recipes I have printed out LOL. Nan

    1. A new baby in the family sure is a joy! I hope until you meet him, you enjoy the pictures. Blueberry muffins are my favorite way to eat blueberry's, but a few handfuls fresh are delicious as well.

    1. It's been quite the joke that a sea turtle got lost and swam up the Mississippi! A local artist has some interesting pieces.
