My colleague/friend and I have been making a little collection of the "tea-inspiration" quotes from our Good Earth tea. After we read them out loud to each other (or send via e-mail if we are not both in the office) we've taken to putting the little piece of papers from the tea bag string into a small little mason jar. Not just any mason jar. When her boss retired last summer, she gave everyone in the division a mason jar filled with Hershey Hugs and Kisses, with a personal note tucked inside for each of us. I have known her for over 25 years and she has been a bit of a mentor to me and so many others over our careers. She worked before I did at my last employer, and my friend W took her position. I keep saying my work is a small world. B is calm, gracious, and with a hippy vibe that brings you that same peace. It seemed fitting to be channeling her through inspiring quotes and a mason jar that still smells of chocolate. My boss was having a hard day and I offered her up the mason jar, telling her first to embrace her inner B. DH works late and DD2 has play practice from 5:00-10:00. I've already altered my menu plan just made on Saturday, but rather than grab something frozen and heating up crap, I switched up days and am making curry. It will reheat well when DD2 comes home and for leftovers. She ate the last of the soup (that I didn't freeze) from Saturday between school and practise. DH isn't a fan of curry, so I thought I would make him a burger with some sliced mushrooms I found lingering in the fridge. He can have with rice and a salad. I opened a bottle of Pinot Grigio last night for a movie with DH, and I am going to treat myself to a glass with my supper. I hope your week is off to a good start.

Oh I love your mason jar idea. My hubby told me I should write down my worries and put them in a jar, then look at them at a later date to see that they ended up being no big deal.
ReplyDeleteI like that idea as well. The jar is getting fed now by others. It seems to be hitting a spot at the office.
DeleteThe mason jar is such a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteArilx
It is good fun-silly, office kind of fun.
DeleteThe mason jar is a fantastic idea! Words have so much power.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who has a father with everything a human can possibly want, so for his birthday one year every member of the family and his closest friends wrote about their favorite time with him on a slip of paper, one word that best described him and why on another, their favorite vacation memory on another, favorite holiday memory, etc until they had 365 pieces of memories. Then the first thing every morning for one year, he and her mom pulled out one slip of paper and read the memory and discussed it. He loved it so much that they got another mason jar to put the read notes in, and he still re-reads them on a regular basis.
Oh, such a great idea. I was thinking we could do something like that for the cabin-memories from the last 50 years. Of course the in laws and the kids won't have that many but DH,his sister, his aunts and uncles all would.
