Weekend Round Up

I love weekends. Even with a job  I like, I still really like weekends and can't wait for them to arrive. After back to back weekends filled with road trips, it is nice to be a somewhat homebody this weekend. Today is all about the house, cleaning, laundry, and doing some organizing. It's never ending. As we've aged, we're not ones for the Halloween parties or the events in the local bar and grills, but DD2 has plans tonight with friends. They spent yesterday afternoon at the Halloween store and getting pumpkins and carving them. I'll see what DH and I might find on Netflix while our daughter is at her haunting experience, and have an at home date night with popcorn.

My grocery challenge is kaputz for October. I wasn't organized enough, nor had the time I needed to make meals ahead, and DH ended up a few times running over to the store for a quicker option, we picked up Papa Murphy's one night, and mostly just felt blah about meals. I ended up doing a big shop at Aldi's on my way home. I am still trying to economize when possible and practical, will still challenge myself, but am just not going to let a challenge rule my life. Still, I don't think I do too bad spending compared to average household budgets. Letting myself relax, in the long run, I think I'll shop and prepare better, taking advantage of good prices, but also having enough spontaneity in our meals that we don't get bored. I bought a new coffee flavor-caramel cream and I'm sipping as I type and it is delicious.

My to do list for the weekend:

Saturday
Yoga video and a walk
Fold and put away the mountain of laundry
Wash dedicates and get them hung to dry
Deep clean bathrooms-enough said
Purge and bag items for donation for drop off Monday on route home
Clean refrigerator and freezer
Drive and pick-up DD2 and friend (parking is insane where she is going and it is easier to just drop off and return than have her drive and park)
Buy Halloween treats

Sunday
Yoga video and a walk
Hopefully early church
Meet friends for breakfast and watch the Minnesota Vikings football game (in London so insanely early)
Work choir mattress sale fundraiser-shop for a new mattress
Bake bread or muffins for week, boil eggs for week

My days will be busy, but in a relaxed, at my pace kind of way. My next two weeks are only four day work weeks due to my flex day and a holiday, so back to back three day weekends. My next flex day after that falls on another holiday, so I could switch and have all my November weekends three days and that might be the plan. What's on your agenda? Do you have a busy or a low key weekend?

  1. Low key weekend here, but I tend to be a low key kind of gal. Our church is hosting a pumpkin carving party tonight, and eldest ds offered to take youngest, which is nice for me. I have many things to do today in the yard, while the weather is still nice, and a quilt to work on. Other than that, it's just business as usual.

    1. If I quilted, it would have been a good day for that.we got outside stuff done when we werr off, but table and chairs need storing. I'm hoping a nice day is still possible.

  2. Well considering it is raining/snowing at the moment not going to be doing much outside. I do have to take the kids to a birthday party later. I think we are also going to carve pumpkins tonight. Tomorrow is teaching PSR and then church. I desperately need to do laundry and clean the bathrooms this weekend too. Hope you have a productive but relaxing weekend.

  3. That's strange, I only boil my eggs for 10 minutes! Anna
