I'm ready for a vacation. I get two days off next week, then three the following for our Nashville road trip. I need it. I'm interviewing a person today and then again Monday, and so hope one of the two will be a fit. I and one of my team are spreading the duties and neither can sustain much longer. I'm still trying to think forward to when it will be warm and sunny, but more snow is coming this weekend. Life goes on though.
The last show choir competition was Saturday and I chaperoned, which meant exhaustion Sunday! Monday night was a school concert. DD2 had a surprise solo and it was beautiful. The song was acapella, with one of her guy friends starting off, then the men in the Scottish folks song, then the women came in, and with their voices in quiet back ground, in kicked my daughters voice. Someone described the whole song as giving them chills! A few silly photos after, since this was their last concert in robes, and we both had homework to get to.
She and I both worked the school French Club led Mardi Gras last night. It was well attended and I was happy to have a less physical job of being the food cashier, though helped with take down and clean up. Food served were crepes, with assorted items for filling, little cakes, and pear tartelettes, pizza (so very carnival!), vegetable couscous, and jambalaya. I doubt it was authentic, but the jambalaya was pretty tasty and a new dish to me. It was spicy, with sausage, pork, and chicken, served over rice. I will need to find the recipe as both DD2 and I enjoyed it.
I should get to church today, but I'm honestly going to see how my energy level is after work. I've gotten back logged on comments and reading and commenting on others blogs. Saturday is going to be a good catch-up day for all sorts of things. I'm going to spend a few hours downloading various pictures and sorting for school posters, and maybe even put a few hours in on house work. It's mid week and the business of life is open.

Even though I hate it when people write with a period after each word, I find have to when I ask the following: How. The. Heck. Do. You. Do. It? You are one busy woman! I told DD I would pick her up at school and take her to our noon service. The next service is 7 p.m., and there is no way I am leaving the house this evening.
ReplyDeleteTruth? I don't-I skipped Lenten services completely. DD2 did not have choir practice and by the time I had stopped at the grocery store, made diner, it was too late. I actually begged a bit watching Bravo TV!
DeleteBusy busy! Spring is bloody late everywhere, even here. About at least a month behind, normally our trees are blooming here now but not even close.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, we need it to be a month or more behind as we will get even worse flooding if we have a fast thaw.
DeleteI love that you are enjoying(?) this last busy year with your daughter. I wish we could all have heard the concert. I would love to hear her sing.
ReplyDeleteIf I was better at uploading stuff and converting files, I'd try to share more. I am enjoying being part of her and her friends lives a little bit through volunteering. DD2 said her friends just love me, which makes my heart smile. I think I am seen as not butting into their business, but there for them when they need an extra adult.
DeleteLike OMW, I love to see you maximizing this last year with your daughter! It will be gone in a flash before you know it. You've got this!
ReplyDeleteIt truly is. She has externally more activities that need parent involvement than the other kids, but I worked the tournaments, made the bars, volunteered with their all night parties etc. too. I will never regret one moment spent for my kids.
DeleteI wish we could hear her solo also. I am always blown away with performances, especially by young folks.
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy!
You can see how much they like to sing, dance, play, perform-whatever it is. Sure, some kids are required to participate, but by high school, it is mostly choice. For some, the school music programs are great outlets because sports or jobs keep them from the extracurricular even if they like to sing or be in band and orchestra It's fun to see those kids get to perform and I can tell they are enjoying it.
