Found floating around Facebook yesterday. This really does describe the insanity of the weather we have had the last few years. Yes, I moan about the weather a lot. I am sorry for that and yes, I chose to stay living here. This seems to be the price we Minnesotans must pay for two- four, depending on the year, of weather so perfectly gorgeous I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. In the peak of summer when the humidity is at bay and it is just glorious sunshine. Alternatively, I'll take a wondrous fall day with a crispness in the morning, but by noon, nothing but a simple sweater will do as I look forward to snuggling by an outdoor fire. Please, someone tell me where these conditions last and I'll start making plans.
Until then, I'll just keep on with the life we've made here. Tomorrow will be a big purging day and getting ready for the kitchen and the doors. The slush and messiness makes this task more difficult, but it has to be done. The door guy was supposed to measure yesterday, but cancelled due to the weather. Now he is coming Monday, then we'll have to go up and pick and sign for the door. Stupid weather throws off our schedule by almost a week because we were going to go up last night, but now can't until Wednesday. Sorry-I keep griping don't I? The pressure of how much we are biting off in a relatively short time is getting to me I guess.
I was supposed to have today off, but an issue came up that has to be dealt with in person. It will cost me time, but I'll try and make it back next week. If by the end of April I have most of the non "hired" stuff out of the way, I may not be happy, but at least I'll be to the point of taking care of things within my control. One bright side. At least Minnesota makes for good day time television. Enjoy this suffering from Twin Cities live. Have a great weekend.

This has been a wild weather year for sure. Sorry you aren't able to take today off. Hope you get things solved quickly & get a chance to enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was a terminology issue. The finance person was trying to make adjustments from a PO balance when we wanted them made from the original PO amount. It was solved in three minutes! I was able to get a fee other things done ahead of Monday and still left and was home by 2:00. I managed to tackle one small project, and got a head start on regular weekend work, so not a total lost day off.
DeleteI can totally relate to the angst the weather causes. 10 inches of snow in April is what sent us fleeing from New England.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, weather will delay construction/renovations/remodels. We lost over a month due to our snow--not just because of road conditions, but because the humidity had to drop to a certain level before they could continue with the next steps. We are currently waiting for grading on the grounds to be done, but the rains have started, so if they attempted the grading, we'd only be left with mud. (Bulldozer on wet ground = mud.)
Fortunately, nothing is true renovation-yet, just pulling and throwing old and replacing with new. I'm sorry for your delays, It feels like I've been reading about your house for years, but maybe it was in the design stages early, or I have no senses of time!
DeleteI can perfectly understand your weather issues. You have been stuck long time with too much too much.
ReplyDeleteIt is so ugly too because we are getting a rusty brown dust supposedly all the way form Texas! No one better disturb me in July when I am lake side with an ice cold drink in hand.
DeleteWe all are ready for a nice Spring but even here, the weather is overcast and colder than usual. Snow is something we look forward to in the winter and past winter it snowed only twice in Istanbul. Other parts of the country gets more.
ReplyDeleteSome day, I'd love to see Istanbul. Turkey, despite the political climate *though doesn't every country have woes these days) seems like such a beautiful and vibrant place. The spring cold just gets in my bones-more so than fall. I hope you keep commenting and sharing views form your part of the world.
DeleteThe house building actually started in early October. It had been in "planning" (in our minds) a good bit longer, but we held out hope that the perfect place would come on the market before we decided to build. I had heard horror stories about building, but our contractor is stellar. We waited another bit of time for him to be available.
ReplyDeleteIt is coming soon now. Good luck with the move. Do you need to sell your current home still, or keep?
