My Sunday

DH is going to the lake, but I am choosing not to. There were a series of texts on Thursday about summer birthdays and is it this weekend or the 25th. I wasn't part of any discussions, and it sounded like the responses from my MIL and other SIL that they weren't either. DH's one sister is the promoter of the sibling birthday thing, this month is DH, her husbands, and my mother-in-laws birthdays. I still find it quite odd to have these birthday get togethers with cake for grownups every year, every season, but it's a fight I'm not taking on. Since DH is one of the birthdays and we are moving DD2 on the 25th, I just responded- pick a date, other than the 25th and he'll try and make it work-emphasis on him. I got my BIL a t-shirt from our town brewery and a four pack of samples. He's a beer guy and if nothing else, it is practical and will get drunk. For my MIL, I bought note cards, she likes to send them to people, and some rose gold stationary/desk items for her office. Again, both are practical if not really gifty. Her birthday isn't until the 16th and we'll bring her flowers for her birthday week as well. She enjoys flowers and really wants for nothing.

Before the flurry of texts, I had already had my day planned to get quite a few house items done, more clothes purging, tackle the refrigerator, prep rhubarb I bought at the farmers market for future cake and jam, and some writing. DD1 invited us for supper and I'm looking forward to her meal. DD2 is still sleeping so not sure what her plans are, so may or may not be going with him in the coming hour. I made a tuna salad and have a six pack of burger and buns for him to take along. I haven't talked with DS for a while, so am hoping tonight we can connect as Sunday nights are generally good for him.

I had thought about making muffins this morning but I keep forgetting to pick up muffin tin liners. Of the paper items I am trying to use less of, this is not on my list. I just really prefer using them. I have a few frozen bananas and muffins are so much faster than bread which helps when it is so hot outside. I guess they will stay in my freezer this weekend. I'm going blueberry picking next weekend with a group my younger sister organizes. DD1 is coming along. Besides those that will be eaten and set aside for jam, I'll freeze a few portions for blueberry muffins for fall. I love fall, but I am not ready for it yet. Breakfast today then will be to use up the odd bagels we have-less to clean out of the refrigerator later morning. DH bought another dozen eggs when I already had a full carton, so I boiled  six for eggs salad. Perhaps he and DD2 will want eggs with their bagels. They'll keep for another week or so, but two dozen eggs is a lot for just three of us.

My coffee cup is empty-that went down fast. I think I will get a refill, and catch up with other blogs. While cleaning and organizing, Ill have some of my favorite YouTube subscriptions running. Since it is so hot, I'm hoping it cools down enough to get an evening river walk in-sounds like a good end to the weekend. Enjoy your Sunday.

  1. I can't give up muffin tin liners either. I also won't give up parchment paper! Enjoy your Sunday.

    1. Parchment paper is a huge help in the kitchen. I reuse for multiple cookie batches.

  2. Same as Meg B. Fall is okay, but I love summer.

    1. Oh, Fall is my favorite season, at least it WAS when I lived in New England. Not much Fall in FL, and much of a Fall here in the PNW, but I imagine where Sam is, the foliage is SPECTACULAR in Fall, probably similar to New England. I wonder if it's Mother Nature's way of making up for brutal winters that come next? All that said, I like summers best, because none of us have to rush off anywhere. Of course, like Sam, my kids are with their peers, not sitting on the porch sipping cold drinks with DH and me. Ah, the circle of life...
xoxo to you both--two of my favorite bloggers in one comment.
