Forget July Goals

July sped right by. I drafted unassuming goals with a lack of expectations. Well, I sure hit the mark there. Low expectations met-meaning nothing really accomplished other than life.

Financial
  • Get the Household and Grocery (H&G) spending to $350 for July. We ended at  at $435. I bought a lot of fruit and veg out of season.
  • Limit entertainment spending to under $50 for the month. I'm a bit excited about this one as I think we can try and think outside the box and be much more creative without just succumbing to Netflix and Red Box movies at home, though those are not off the plan.  this was met but only through happenstance. DH and DD1 went to a movie only they wanted to see. I did three nights of Trivia, but we had gift cards that offset one night so only had tip. We were still over $50, but not much.
  • Limit the eating out/take out budget to $75 (This includes work lunches, but off the plan is the extra college trip, but I'll see if I can keep that low to trim the $175 estimate.) I'm putting this on DH who grabbed lunch out-a lot, plus went with DD2 at least one Thursday.
Health and Wellness
  • Take a morning walk, three times a week I'm just plain disappointed in myself on this one.
  • Besides pups evening walks, take an extended evening walk by the river or the trails park at least once per week
  • Use the yoga videos at least twice per week
  • Try a new vegan recipe with my daughters

Organization-The purging is an ongoing process. I haven't cleaned out my car yet.

  • Purge at least one more bag of my clothes, two of DH's (his dresser and side of the closet have gotten out of control), two of DD2's clothes. Next month she really needs to get serious about what she will take with her, what she will leave behind, and what just needs to go.
  • Clean out car and trunk, vacuum (one station has free vacuums to use). Having  refreshed car will feel extra nice when exploring.

Self Awareness/Improvement/Focus
  • Read a book for fun, beyond book club book
  • Add final chapter rough draft to book Why? No excuse.
  • Take 20 pictures for current or future blog posts-Ugg. I forgot my camera on my weekend with the girls. I took a few hone pictures at the college visit, but not really blog stuff.
Social

  • Play trivia at least twice.
  • Try and get the faltering book club regrouped. Two of the ladies are pretty flaky, canceling at the last minute (but only once I've tried to confirm otherwise I bet they would have just been no shows) and my sister is just too busy managing a golf course with unreliable staff in the summer. Based on schedules, we decided to table  the book club until fall. I got tired of trying to find a night that worked.
  • Host friends for a barbecue or drinks and appetizers instead of meeting them out. DH has really been tired when he gets home. The heat of July just wore him out so having people over was not enticing to him.
  • Go to at least the music venues for the towns annual festival. I skipped everything this year-just no interest at all.
Will I even make goals for august? I figure I have a hefty plan here I can continue to work towards. Again, no expectations. It's a new week, the first full one of August. I've got a clean slate.

  1. Better to set goals and fall short than to never plan or try! Good job. I hope this month is a better one for you.
