Countdown Day 6-Views

I am behind where I'd like to be decorating wise, but shopping for gifts, things are just dandy. My daughter and I are making a Sam's Club and Kohl's run and that should complete my efforts. I am getting more hit chocolate bombs from my friends daughter for DH. He found he loves cookies and cream hot chocolate and she does an Oreo version.

We had an uneventful trip home. The first 50 miles had a few dicey spots and we drove slower, but we didn't stop even for a restroom break and made it home in about 4 hours still. Linda wanted more snow pictures but there's nothing left near my house besides little clumps because it got to 37 degrees. Here's some I took from the car as we drove by a farm. So many farms!

One thing I like about coming back into the metro is seeing the Minneapolis or St Paul skyline. DH likes to go around Minneapolis though I'll drive through both, so I only had a view of St Paul coming in from the north. Maybe someday it won't be gray when I'm the passenger. I like skylines in general. Whenever I'm in a new city, car or flying and then getting a cab or car from airport, I always look for the approaching view. In our new office for work, we'll likely have a good view of the Minneapolis skyline facing west. The new building is just down the road from my old workplaces Minneapolis building, barely on the Minneapolis side of 280, and I remember that from the second floor you could see downtown. We have both the first and second floor if our new office. Not that l'll be in office much. I'll leave you to get ready for my work day with that glimpse of St Paul. Happy Monday.

  1. I do love a city skyline! We live on the eastern side of Pittsburgh so we usually take the parkway in, go through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and once you go around the bend, boom, the city hits you. It makes my soul feel good, if that makes sense. Of course I’m biased but it’s gorgeous. Skyscrapers, lights, bridges, rivers. There’s still this misconception that Pittsburgh is this dirty, smoky steel mill town but it’s not. We went downtown Thursday to enjoy the lights and winter market and it was lovely. Glad you made it home safely. I fully decorated but only maybe a third of the way done with shopping. It’ll all get done. Eventually. I hope lol JoAnn

    1. I think there is beauty in city's that others may not think about. The architecture, how nature can merge with the buildings.

  2. Glad you made it home safely! I'm not a city person at all - rural landscapes are my jam. I often stay at hotels (for work) with objectively lovely city skylines, but they are mostly lost on me. Give me a lovely countryside, & I'm in! :-)

    1. I like he skyline, but I've never really lived in a city-so perhaps why I get the bit of "rush" upon approaching them. I too love a good countryside or shoreline view as well.

  3. Glad you made it home safely!
Love the snowy pictures, and the skyline is so pretty!
I like visiting a city, but living/working in one would stress me out. Traffic in northern VA was crazy.
Hope you have a good week.

    1. I've never lived in a city and never worked in a downtown location-just more the outskirts of St Paul and Minneapolis. I think the parking and getting in and out every afternoon would drive me nuts, but I am a good visitor.

  4. Nice pictures! It is hard to believe there is snow (even remnants) when we are having temps in the 70's.
    I love skylines!

  5. I like city skylines too. And I also liked it when we worked right in central Geneva (although Geneva is hardly New York city)! There's a vibrancy to the city and it can be fun (although expensive when I used to pop out "shopping" on my lunch breaks)!

    1. You describe it how I feel-vibrancy. As I've never lived or worked in the downtown area, I feel like I'm a bit of a tourist when I enter that space.

  6. Hello Sam, I often prefer rural scenes, but when I come to Cleveland there is a place where the highway crosses a valley, and there is a great panoramic view of the city, which always makes me feel that I have come home.

    1. I like how you can come into a city for a different direction and see different aspects of the skyline. I too am not really a city girl, but I appreciate the architecture.

  7. It's nice to see a little snow. I also enjoy seeing Seattle whenever we're going that direction. It's especially lovely night time, lit with million lights, and now Xmas lights too!

    1. Yes-skylines at night can be very beautiful. Snow, lights, and the different buildings can be wonderful to see.

  8. Your landscape pics are beautiful. It's nice to see a cityscape without a dozen cranes (my city) putting up new buildings.

    1. Depending on the angle, we see different things. I'm sure there's stuff blocking some views! I liked the tree shot-ubs was driving ast but I snapped it.

  9. Glad you’re safe and sound. I can say I hate snow- especially driving in it. Having lived in Chicago, Philadelphia and Fairfax, Va I’ve experienced enough in my life besides as a child in Iowa. One year it snowed on Easter and our company could not make it to our house. It’s 68 here at 7 AM this morning- beautiful outside too. I’m behind on decorating and have decided if I don’t get my bushes out front decorated by the weekend, they’re a no go. I love Christmas but December 26th I’m taking it all down. Two of my kids have January birthdays so we always had that to look forward to celebrating. I still need gift cards but that’s it for presents…I think! Nan

    1. My daughter turns 21 in January, but she'll be back at school so we'll celebrate early. This will be my big Christmas push weekend, then let myself enjoy net weekend.
