Meals and No Menu

Meals just evolved day to day. That's what time off work is for, just letting the day form as we want or need. We had so much chicken. I both cooked too much of it, a d had a few favorites. Even though same protein, there was a fair amount of variety.

  • Sunday: Aldi red bag chicken, homemade fries
  • Monday: Gyros with onion rings
  • Tuesday: DD2 and I grabbed a bite out, made DH a chicken cordon Bleu sandwich
  • Wednesday: Homemade Chicken and cheese taquitos, DD2 ate the last of the gyro fixings before her last part time job shift.
  • Thursday: Chicken tortellini alfredo
  • Friday: kids and DH had pizza and stuff at lake. I waited to come up be cause of dog. I skipped dinner as I was stuffed from the lunch place we went to near my daughter's house.
  • Saturday: Food at lake, brats, burgers, ribs ( Sunday too likely)

I can't be bothered to plan this week either. We're eating at the lake today as well. We're meeting my family out for lunch tomorrow.  My daughter's requested a final curry for Tuesday, to then have leftovers Wednesday morning. It's her favorite meal so I can't say no! What's been on your menu?

  1. Your menu sounds delicious, Sam. We are having chicken tenders, hot dogs, dirty rice, hamburgers, and Mac and cheese for dinners this week. I hope you have a great time with your family at the lake house today.

    1. But, no real plans for this week. Now I'd like Mac and cheese seeing it above.

  2. I love that chicken is so versatile. We eat it often as well because you can turn it into so many different meals with such different flavor profiles.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend Sam.

  3. Sounds like a relaxing menu week. We had gyros on Friday, from a Greek takeout place. They were delicious! I love Greek food.

    1. My daughter got a gyro when she, her brother, and a few of my sister's took them out for yet another goodbye lunch. She said she preferred the Aldi kit version!

  4. Tuna casserole on Friday. Fish and chips cooked in my in-oven air fryer on Saturday.Spaghetti with ground beef and store-bought sauce last night. (A combination of Classico and Newman's own.) Peruvian chicken tonight, roast beef dinner tomorrow. I've had a request for a pumpkin pie, which will probably accompany tomorrow's roast beef dinner. That's as far as I've gotten! We've been working hard trying to get the perennial beds in. (We've been digging up big rocks for the borders and lugging them to their place.) The lawn area gets rock hounded the 24th (basically, a guy drives through the yard, turns over the dirt, sifts it, catches the rocks, and puts them in a pile.) After that, we'll figure out where the vegetable garden is going, then we will get the lawn area hydroseeded for grass. All in all, we've been busy, so dinner has been on the fly.

  5. I think evolution of meals when you have a houseful is the best plan of all. For the record, I love red bag chicken!

  6. Believe it or not, I'm making a lasagna for our Labor Day party. It's my brother's (68 and never married) favorite meal and the weather is not going to be great for a cookout. We'll have 4 out of 5 siblings together for the first time since before Covid!

    1. It's meteorological autumn! I made chili a few hot days. That's when I like it thicker, and over rice, rather than a hot bowl full.
