Late post, and I'm woefully behind comments and reading. Life. But, it's My Wednesday Pantry and it's officially chili weather in Minnesota. I made a pot on Sunday using both canned and fresh ingredients, both canned chili beans, and dried and cooked pinto beans. We've eaten in a bowl in the past, but so far have eaten it over rice and loaded with rice, cheese, and avacado in a tortilla for a more portable lunch in the run. Some may end up as a sauce for pasta - chili Mac.
Long point short, chili is quite versatile and I plan to keep portions in my freezer.
I don't think Mama ever cooked chili because I never had it at home. Maybe Daddy did not like it because if he did not want it, no one had it. In school I was ill every day that chili was served. In hs the study hall and library were above the lunchroom, so chili day was miserable for me. I will make chili for others but never eat it except no beans and over a hotdog. However, Tommy loves chili. Yours does look delicious.
ReplyDeleteI just realized this isn't even my chili- it's a picture of just slow cooker prepared beans.
DeleteYum, we love chili here. I have all the ingredients on hand too except for ground beef. I need to pick up some soon as it is getting to be chili weather here too.
ReplyDeleteAnd mine had no meat because I wanted to give some to my daughter. I like it both ways.
