Positively Tuesday- Moments

It's another week to be happy about the good things, and be there to support each other when it's rough. Little moments are sometimes enough. Here's my recap of my joys, simple pleasures, and things to just smile about this past week for Positively Tuesday.

Isn't he beautiful? Ignore the green
eyes as I'm horrible with the flash.
Tuesday: I did doggy day care in the afternoon and worked from my daughter's house in the afternoon. It was so nice, I could work on her deck while he just played or snoozed. Getting extra walks in was great.

Wednesday: Trivia was the highlight and another friend joined for first time. Placing 3rd was a bonus.

Thursday: DD1 had a rough day balancing work and puppy life. We made a plan and think it's a good one. Solutions to problems always are a joy for me.

Friday: Work was quiet so I could concentrate on a dreaded assignment. It was coolish and rainy and made for great sleeping weather.

Saturday: I visited with my sister for 2 hours at the hospital. I got a bit of a vanity moment when a doctor checking on her pain meds assumed I was her daughter. We'll, I was masked and hair in ponytail. Now, if this was my oldest sisters, not such a stretch, but she's only 6 years older.

Sunday: We had an enjoyable Sunday. My sister was discharged and doing well. The weather was fall perfect. We started the day with coffee then a good walk at my daughter's. We had a Vikings win in the last minute of the game. DD2 called and we gave her a play by play if the end of the game. Pup was feeling better finally after tummy issues and he wanted a couple walks. I can't say I'm not getting my steps in these days.

Monday: We had my daughter and nieces non profit board meeting last night and it was a good one. There were many ideas shared, and it looks like they'll both end 2022 and start 2023 with positive programming.

It's a cool morning but I haven't checked the forecast. There's been a run of school violence incidents in the metro so even through a virtual office, you can feel tension. I just keep remembering why my work in early childhood matters so much. That importance will carry me through this busy week. How about you? What were some of your highlights?

  1. Grandpup is adorable! What a cutie. I’m struggling to even remember what happened last week so maybe I should keep notes of each day lol. Work was mostly good, DM came and helped us get a jumpstart on the floor set, I went to the football game and it was a blast, I had a productive and fun weekend, a nice balance of housework and outdoors. We had a fire, walked the city on Saturday and walked at a lake on Sunday. Hubby is working daylight the next two weeks and while it does turn our schedules on end a little bit, I’m really enjoying these quiet mornings alone. I love when people tell me I don’t look old enough to have two grown kids. Idk if they really mean it or not, but I’ll take it :) JoAnn

  2. A few years ago, when I was visiting my sister at her house in Spain, a neighbour asked if I was her daughter!!! Luckily she asked in Spanish (my sister doesn't speak Spanish) and I tried to cover it up, but she twigged anyway. She was NOT pleased as she is only eight years older than me! I think I'm catching her up now though! And I'm glad to hear your sister is home from hospital and doing better!

    1. Not to be a bumble bragger, but I do get guesses that I'm 6-10 years younger. I don't know what face they are looking at though!

  3. That is such a cute puppy! Well, I had a few lazyish but also productive days recently. I washed everything that needed washing and put them away. I started sorting through my clothes and will be giving away some more. I think I have some more stuff to get rid off hiding in closets and cabinets. Decluttering has become this year's theme and I am so glad of it. It is chilly at home now so, I put away my summer dresses I wear at home and took out sweatpants and sweatshirts. As I type this, I am taking a break from swapping seasonal clothes and sipping my coffee.

    1. Sipping coffee is always a right thing to do. I too need to purge more clothes and figure out work appropriate now that I'm going to work related places more frequently.

  4. Your work really does matter.

New pup is super cute. I'm glad your daughter has you to lean on, while she adjusts. So awesome you can be there for her.

    1. She really didn't think through as well as she should have. But, what do we do? I won't re-home him when we clearly have enough love to give him. Thank you for saying that about my work. It's been a tough week.

  5. Happy to hear your sister is doing well. Cute puppy. What did she name it?

    1. Because his picture and name were together on line and might be traceable, I'll not share specifically
But, she kept the name the foster place used as it fit him.

  6. What a cute doggo! Great motivation to get your steps in too, Sam! I'm glad your sis is doing better (did you tell her you were mistaken for her daughter?).

    This week, I'm grateful for:
    - the support of my friends. The long-overdue memorial for my friend who died of cancer at the start of the pandemic is this week, and I'm trying to stay calm and positive. I have to speak - twice!
    - reconnecting with my brother. He seems to need me to do all the emotional heavy-lifting, and while I hate taking that kind of mental load on, he's going through a lot of stuff right now, and needs his older sis (his partner is in chemo for breast cancer).
    - being there for my mom. Her disability isn't going to get any better, so I'm there to help talk her through what she needs to do, and to talk out next steps.
    - having my art to take my brain offline. Although it's terrifying working on a jacket for my husband (he's right there!). :)
    - connecting with one of my coworkers who is struggling with overworking. I've been trained in behavioural therapy, mediation and conflict resolution, so I love that I'm able to help her figure out how to make her life/work balance better.

Sorry, that was a bit of a ramble, lol.

    1. Supporting people is a gift. I'm glad you are there for your people and they will be vice versa. I need to dive into the post about L's jacket.

  9. Sorry to hear that your sister hasn't been well, Sam. Glad to hear that she's improving.
    That dog is absolutely lovely!
I've got so much to be grateful for - a brilliant partner, good health, a roof over my head, money in the bank, fantastic friends and an optimistic outlook. xxx

    1. This was follow up surgery from her diverticulitis issue last spring. It went well and she got to come home two days later. Grandpup really is a beauty. They'll find their way together.
