We had a couple coolish days, but have a week of 70's. I'm really not sure what I'll cook day to day. Here's last week.
- Sunday: Chili
- Monday: leftover tortellini soup
- Tuesday: Chili, cheese and rice burrito
- Wednesday: Chicken sandwich and fries
- Thursday: leftovers
- Friday: Had pizza and snacks at sister's
- Saturday: Bean soup and paninis
Rather than day to day, I think I'll just list options. That'll give me something to draw from, but flexibility if we're not feeling it.
- Pasta prima vera
- Homemade Mac and cheese
- Homemade pizza
- Cheddar brats and tots
- Chicken, rice, broccoli, and cheese
- Spaghetti and meatballs
- Some sort of soup and some sort of sandwich
- Sausage and peppers with rice
- Meatloaf and mashed potatoes
Maybe we'll do a take and bake instead of homemade. My daughter still has produce coming so I'll use what she brings in some ways. What's on your table this week?
Our meals are tricky to organize these days, squeezing in between practices, games, driving, etc. That's why we normally rely on cooking during the weekend, but even that has been more challenging lately. I think we're having steak tonight, and chicken shawarma tomorrow. Otherwise, we may rely on some easy Trader Joe options, later in the week.
ReplyDeleteWe need a Sam's Club, Trader Joe's, and Indian Grocery store run this month. The extra dog complicates my schedule a bit so stocking some easy go to's that yield leftovers will help. October is going to be a blur.
DeleteI think you have a new dog! Thank goodness you seem to be enjoying it. What would she have done if you hadn’t? I keep putting off getting another dog as I want to travel more but when it’s time I’ll love it. My last cat died a year ago at 17 but a cat is easy. When the kids were growing up we had three dogs and three cats Hense 17 but the previous cat died at 22!.A full house!
DeleteIt all sounds great Sam. We still have some veggies producing but our time is limited. I love fall but I'll miss going outside to pick things for dinner.
ReplyDeleteWith frost coming, she's going to have to get things picked or covered. It's been a treat though.
DeleteShamelessly using this post to figure out my own meals. Last night was a Crock Pot meal of pork shoulder cooked with apples, onions, apple cider and sauerkraut. Tonight, DH wants to watch football all day, so dinner might just be leftovers, and, perhaps, I'll heat up leftover lasagna. The weekend will see grilled steaks, as the local supermarket is having an amazing two-day sale. I might have to make a homemade mac and cheese, as that piqued my fancy! Will you share the recipe you use? HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
ReplyDeleteI have a pork loin thawing for tonight or tomorrow. I made a full box of pasta so might just throw a tuna hotdish together one night.
DeleteSince I am very ill again (what's new), we have burger patties and chicken cooked, but Tuesday I will need to cook. In the meantime, we have one more meal of potatoes, and two meals of squash and zucchini. i suppose I will put in another pan of chicken into the oven. Cans might figure prominently. Having a fever is not conducive to cooking.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your I'll. I do not enjoy any cooking or eating when I'm under the weather.
Deletethank you! You remind me I want to make a meatloaf this month.
ReplyDeleteDH likes the leftover meatloaf as Sandwiches so it serves multiple purposes.
DeleteSam, I know gardening is new to you and your daughter, so be sure she is watching the overnight low temps. We live in WI and have 3 nights ahead this week for chances of frost. Be sure she cleans out the produce before the temps drop, or takes a blanket or sheet out to cover all of it. The pup is just adorable. We are big (real) dog people, too.
ReplyDeleteYes, she'll need to pay attention. The tomatoes and peppers just keep coming. I've noticed neighbors on our walk still have tons that are green.
DeleteI love your meals. Have a lovely day. Regine
