Aches and Pains

Volleyball season started last night. My friends would know that today by just looking at me. While physical exercise is very good for me to keep ahead of the stiffness arthritis causes, I have new places to ache every year  the first few days after the first night of play. We are not players like the girls above. With the exception of my sister, no one on my team is diving for balls, and she may have decided this year that isn't the wisest. My wrists hurt from bumping the ball.  My fingers feel jammed. My knee is another quarter bigger. But I love it, or at least I love the Wednesday night, no guys, no kids, night. We ended up at the bar and grill close to me.  I just had a my soft Sprite and cranberry as I knew I was going to be needing the ibuprofen. I was right.

  1. Sounds like a fun (but bruising lol) way to spend an evening. I wish I had a group outing like that every few weeks.

    1. I was in rec leagues in college and then once I had kids, these things take a back burner, but now this is my 10th year back "on the court", and we have taken a steady decline in our division and can't get any lower, but still fun.

  2. Good for you!!!!! I played soccer for years after I had kids. I thought that I was going to die the first few times. Keep up the good work!

    1. My aches ache. I might have to move quick, but there is no running in VB. Soccer is a ting of the past except as sideline mom.

  3. That is so great I'd love to do something like that with a fab group of women I may have a look and pluck up courage to join something when I get home from this trip. Good for you don't envy the aches and pains tho.

    1. You would be a welcome addition to any group Wendy! Oh, but I could get that same camaraderie with a book club, and no aches. I might rethink.

    1. Not too much-lowest division and in the middle at that, but considering we regularly play teams with an average age a decade and 1/2 lower than ours, not too bad. I love that after the match, we see our "opponents" out and about n the same places we go to.
