I’ve really let the house go. Between the feelings of what’s going on that all of us are dealing with, work volume, and the leadership change, I’ve been crabby and irritable. DH feels it from me, but also has his own crabbiness. Well I can’t do much about work, but I can get going but by bit and take my house back.
This morning I got a start by cleaning the inside of the refrigerator. There was something smelly in there but now, nice and fresh. I’ve washed towels, and a load of dish towels and rags. In the wash now, are the entry and kitchen rugs. It’s a perfect line dry day. I’ll sweep and mop too. Fresh is needed.
I got a text from one of the mom’s friends and I’m meeting up with them at 3:00 for a walk at a regional park. I’ll take pup out when I hang rugs as he’s not coming along as not a great walking buddy-more a sniffer. We’ll see what else I can get done by 2:45. Tomorrow will be a cleaning day, plus work is needed. Today is a start. I know so may of you have suggested just 45 minutes to an hour a night-with the extra hour of daylight starting tomorrow, maybe I'll have that good burst of energy when I log off.
My phone also blew up with sibling texts. A couple more got their vaccines! I’m happy to see my family in the loop. I almost got DH an appointment but by the time (minutes) he confirmed he could get to the pharmacy Tuesday by 3:00, 25 minutes away, it was booked and no longer available. Of course that made me sad again, but nothing to do about it.I'll keep trying and meanwhile, hope our health care clinic reaches out as they will not allow you to schedule until they contact you.
I boiled eggs for possible egg salad tonight which was somewhere eon the menu this week, to go with soup form the freezer. I may not be feeling that though after the walk. I did potatoes intending to try potato salad, but over cooked. Now, I might make potato pancakes. I was disappointed with the outcome because after my daughters salad last week, I've been craving some. The potatoes won’t be wasted. Maybe a full on brunch tomorrow.
IT sent a new power cord and came in mail today. Sadly, that was not the solution to my battery not charging. Shoot, just when it would be nice to work outside. I now have two spare cords so could plug in outside to work on porch or deck. Trying to think more positive. My computer is going on five years and has had a work out, so understandable. Funny though, it charged fully from my docking station when I was in the office last month.
That’s the extent of my days plans. I slept horribly but I think it was a late Diet Coke. Back to water and truly no more than one a day and no caffeine after 3:00. I guess we lose an hour of tomorrow, but since one day is not much different to the other, I'm less bothered than other years about the prospect of losing that hours. Take care and have a lovely Saturday.
I like it when we gain an hour in the fall, but don't care for this time of year when we lose the hour. The day always seems to go by so much faster. But it is what it is. I hope you have a good Saturday, Sam.
ReplyDeleteI think I a in the camp that we should just stay with the clock time in the fall and not set it forward.
DeleteGlad you are getting some stuff done. Enjoy your walk today and take time just for you too. When things are busy, try setting a timer for just 15 minutes to get stuff in the house done. Challenge yourself to see how quick you can work and how much you can accomplish in the 15 minutes. I bet you'll surprise yourself and it might even motivate you to do another 15! Take it from me, I'm the challenge queen lol!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm old enough to know what I should do at the end of the day to stay on top of the house. It's getting that first 15 minutes in after a long work day when I'd rather do something like sit outside, read, or binge watch pointless programming.
DeleteLots of crabbiness in this neck of the woods too! I think it must be a symptom of the pandemic. Everyone seems to be struggling now and no wonder, its never ending! Glad you got your house reclaimed though, I need a kick start to get mine back in order again too. I've been waking very early recently so when our clocks change in a couple of weeks I might feel I'm getting up at a reasonable hour again! Have a good weekend. x
ReplyDeleteIn process of reclaiming-a lot got done, a lot more needs to be done. My walk yesterday heled and took one this morning with the dog.
DeleteI look at the gain is in the spring, a gain in the day. I love DST. Potatoes can never get too done for potato salad. I love it anyway. The too hard potatoes are what is disgusting in potato salad.
ReplyDeleteI wish it would just stay the same year round-I don't see the point any longer in the spring. No-these potatoes will just fall apart as soon as the dressing would be stirred in. Definitely too soft.
DeleteWe went to a church dinner where there were several potato salads. One was so soft that Tommy took some, thinking it was mashed potatoes...lol. And, he hates potato salad. It was the best tasting potato salad there. I took a small bit of each.
DeleteI'm excited for more daylight! I was running around all day, from 8-2, and it felt like a pre-COVID day. It reminds me that I've gotten into the peace & quiet of our current life. But, the boys had so much fun & it was awesome to see them back on the soccer field.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of busy calendars. Since I start work so early, I would be OK with keeping the fall time year round, and sunsets closer to 8 rather than 9 because we get the benefit of more daylight just with the seasons anyway.
DeleteI seriously thought that was a picture of my fridge:)
ReplyDeleteIs your veggie drawer virtually empty too? That's the main ting we have so little of-even canned and frozen is light.
DeleteIt takes me a while to adjust to time changes, so right now I am not looking forward to it. But in a week things will be fine.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with your refrigerator. Mine is completely full with bits and pieces of leftovers (my standard lunch)
That second shelf holds leftovers along with the eggs I cooked and the potatoes that were supposed to be for potato salad. No worries as we got it with take out last night anyway.
DeleteHello Sam, I love to hear that more and more people are finally getting the vaccine. Unfortunately, I don't think it is going to be avaiable here for a while yet. I have been getting the spring cleaning bug too, since no one ever comes over now, I have been getting very lax.
ReplyDelete--Jim
I'd be very embarrassed to have pope drop by-not like tat will happen so not a real fear. Still, I should just make sure we are enjoying our home, right. Pride for myself. I'm alos feeling like if I do a huge spring clean, I am inviting another massive snow storm. Three years ago we had one on April 13th and 14th, ruining my daughters Vocal and Jazz band concert-had to be cancelled as it was so bad.
DeleteAlmost 6 AM and dark as can be. I hate DST but then I am an early riser and early to bed gal. It's Pi day so I'm going to make a spinach pie- something savory to eat for the next few days. I have fresh spinach already cleaned, sweet onion, mushrooms I need to clean, cottage cheese and feta and I'll whip up a crust real fast. I think with the really mild weather here I should spend sometime outside. I actually got hot last night and probably will turn the air on later today. I'd prefer some 60 degree weather but alas, I doubt if we see many of those days.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Nana. I'd like it lighter in the morning, and am fine with a setting sun. I know though for spring and summer sports, ball fields, soccer fields, etc. the extra light is nice. Now that I'm old and out of those things I forget the advantages.
Deletethere is nothing quite like the satisfactory feeling of a cleaned up fridge
ReplyDeleteI almost hate to food shop and mess it up again!
