Coffee Morning and My Weekends Cout Down

I got load one of laundry out of the way. We had another stupid slow leak in the downstairs bathroom so the rug and a bunch of towels will need a double run through the washer. At least I'll be able to hang the rug out side to dry. I should do more outside line drying now that we have moderate weather, but the ground is so soggy it would create a mess, Plus crunchy towels-no thank you. Whatever is causing the leak will have to be fixed. Add that to the list of items that must get done sooner rather than later, and on the massive list I have for getting the house purged, cleaned, repaired, and spruced by my daughters June 14th graduation party. I just counted the calendar weekends on the calendar and I have 11 weekends! Yikes!

There are what should be minor jobs like finding the leak (I think it might be the stool tank, so maybe not minor), and major issues like the front door and the deck. There's the oven issue, and I think we have decided to do something fairly major and tap into savings rather than a piece meal fix. It's only hard earned savings, right? The graduation party is the kick in the rear to just put time, energy, and money into making our home what we want. Other than the driveway replacement a couple years ago, after over a decade of  patch and repair, and putting new flooring in downstairs after the basement flooding the same year, we've done nothing since before our sons high school graduation in 2007. I'll keep you posted as progress is made.

I'm up early with coffee made and waiting for the rest of the house to get up before I dive into my day, without worrying about waking either up. Not that it will be long as DH works and DD2 has a 9:00 meeting at the school for Spanish club. I don't know if I will leave the house at all. I do need groceries, but will see if I can limp one more day and go tomorrow after church. We have a movie gift card with snack money bonus cash that expires tomorrow. Depending on what is showing and DH's temperament, we might try and fit a movie in tonight or tomorrow night. I said yesterday I wasn't going to write a to do list-there's plenty to my eyes to see that needs being done. I'm off to finish this cup, pour a second and switch the washer. What's on your  calendar for this last Saturday in March?

  1. Why do we put off doing things to our surroundings for us to enjoy and wait until an event to get things in order. It must be a universal trait.
Enjoy what you can of the weekend and then just start in one corner of one room and work your way around the house. I say that like that is so easy to do. It is not my usual m.o. though.

    1. I know, but I certainly need deadlines to keep me motivated. I feel like we are living at least in organize chaos after cleaning the house.

  2. I am STILL cleaning/purging/organizing for our move. If it was just me, it would be done in no time. I have done as much of the kids' rooms as possible without feeling as if I was crossing boundaries in making decisions. I really am going to have to make each of them get to it. I haven't even looked at tackling our garage-that's DH's area. I've told you before, while he doesn't tend to acquire a lot of stuff, he is loathe to dispose of the stuff he does get. Aside from a beautiful antique bedroom set which is biding time in there until we make the move and put it in the guest room, I add to the garage tally a broken ice-box style coffee table, worn out leather reclining wing chair, two computer chairs, two Christmas tree stands, a box of kitchen items tagged for the thrift shop, and many, many canning jars. (I take full responsibility for those.)I think I am going to tell DH that anything other than what I have claimed in the garage at the time of our move is not coming into the house, nor will I take responsibility for it in any way, shape or form.
    Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh.
Today's plan is to join a friend at a spring exhibition--should be mostly plants. I am also going to plot out where we want to plant the fruit trees on our new place. At this rate, due to our snow, we lost a good deal of time--the humidity level had to drop before the workers could proceed. I decided that regardless of when the build is complete, we are waiting until after school gets out to move.

    1. Yard maintenance-we will lose a whole weekend in May for that, plus work at the cabin! Oh well-what gets done gets done. I look forward to hearing more about your move.

  3. I have a "to do" list sitting in front of me as I speak and my diary sitting next to it. Not sure thats such a good thing though as its a toss up between "getting things done" or just going with the flow. I also thought I would have got a lot more decluttering done already since I retired but Im not getting very far on that score either. Maybe its a woman thing. Always feel like we have to be doing things. (Sorry about the punctuation but my computer is playing up). Hope you got to see that movie (and dont forget to make some time for yourself).

    1. I just alternated between laundry, cleaning, dusting, and some purging. For the week ahead, I'll have a more specific to do list.
